Congratulations!! That is very exciting, please keep us posted on how everything is going!
Hey Copelald, I am trying for the Fall of 2010, do you know what the waiting list looks like? I will be done with everything by December, Just seeing if you think that there might still be a spot open?
Noel1221:
Well, after I got my email last month, I called the lady that is head of the dept. She said that I was at the end of the list for spring and that it was filled..but that I would have a seat for fall. Are you finish with all of the requirements to get in? If so..you should just call her and ask how things are looking for fall for you and she can let you know. I totally forgot her name and direct # but if you call PJC and ask them to speak to the nursing dept, they will transfer you to her. Maybe her name is Sarah?! PJC's # is 484-1000, let me know what she says!
I actually will finish my last pre-req in December,( A & P 1, I am taking it now) I called and she said right now she was not sure about the list, but to call sometime in January to see where I am on the list! Hopefully I will get in! I still have not done Micro, Nutrition and A & P 2. Did you already take these, or are planning on doing that while in the program? Thanks again. Congrats to everyone who has gotten in!!

Congrats on getting in! I will have all the required pre- reqs done in December. I actually just emailed her yesterday to find out the possibility of me getting in the fall. She said I will become a qualified candidate in December when I complete A&P 1 and the lab. She said that there are 115 on the list right now for the fall that are qualified and I will join that list in December, but I am kind of disappointed because I was hoping to get into the program in the fall but I think they only accept 120 and if they already have 115 I am sure I will not make it. Oh well, I will try for next January.
kjones87,
I am in the same boat as you! I am praying I can get in, in the fall!! I am finished with my pre-reqs as well in December!! Really Hope I can get a seat!! I doing A&P 1 this semester too. How many people do they usally admit into the program?? I thought the website said like 110, really hope that is not the case!!
My mom is also doing the nursing program at PJC and she was accepted for the coming spring term. She starts in January. She said that she believed it was 120 that is admitted into the program each time. I know that she finished everything in May of this year and did not get in the fall but did get accepted for the spring. I am really hoping I get into the fall program too!
Kjones87,
Wow how exciting for your mom. Tell her I said Congrats! It will be nice to have someone so close to study with! I talked to the lady at PJC yesterday and she said what you said about there being 115 qualified applicants, and she told me that since I am a Transfer that my "canadacy" date would'nt be January 7. Which puts me behind ervyone else at PJC who qaulifies at the end of Semester. I was praying for at least an Alternate spot, but from the looks of it, I probibly will not even get that . It has made me really sad! I don't think I can wait a whole nother year.
Don't worry! You can wait a year...it will be worth it! Everything happens for a reason and this may just not be the best time for you to start. I know how you feel because I've been going through this for the past two years. Trying to get into a nursing program. But the last two times I tried, looking back, I know they were not the right time to start. You still have a couple of classes to complete. You don't want to have to take these classes while in the nursing program. The program is so tough as it is, it really needs your total attention and it will be much better for you in the long run to get all the co-reqs out of the way. I'm starting in January, so I haven't seen it myself yet, but I've talked to many people who have either been through or flunked out of the program and thats what they all say. So just take a breather, keep your dream in sight and don't take your eyes off of it. It may feel like a slow and torturous process, but you will benefit in the end by getting those classes done first and you will be starting the program before you know it!
