I GOT A JOB!!!!!!!!!!:lol2: :monkeydance: :roll :yelclap: :thankya: After having to make some hard decisions about relocating we decided to stay a few more months to make sure things were truly in order. My inner voice told me not to leave just yet and surprisingly, I LISTENED!

I made up my mind this morning (last minute literally) that I was gonna try a place that I had previously applied (ap and resume previously filled out at the facility) to. After I took my son to summer school, I came home and checked the newspaper classifieds for yesterday's paper (Sunday). Believe me when I tell you that I was surprised to see that the same place that I was gonna go to this morning had an ad looking for nurses! I made up my mind that today my goal was to go to the facility and re-express my interest in the position that I had previously applied for but I had an even more ambitious goal: SPEAK TO SOMEONE DIRECTLY AND ASK FOR A TOUR OF THE FACILITY. I spoke to the receptionist and told her my situation and she immediately called someone in HR to pull my ap and resume! I was greatful but yet respectful and calm. The receptionist approached me with another ap b/c they couldn't find the previous one and I graciously stayed right there and filled out the ap. I filled it out and she took it to HR an said that someone would be out to speak to me. After waiting for about 20-30 minutes the DON came out to get me and took me to her office to speak to me and SHE INTERVIEWED ME RIGHT ON THE SPOT! After spending about 30 minutes with her and successfully answering her questions, she gave me a tour and took me to a unit to interview with the unit manager. After interviewing with the unit manager she said that she liked "my vibes" that she was getting with me and offered me a ft 3-11 position! I go for orientation on the 10th!

I must admit that today I was on a mission. Mission accomplished! Although ltc is not my first choice to work, I am sincerely greatful for the opportunity. I plan to give it my all and who knows, maybe my feelings about ltc will change! I do find it ironic that my inner voice was telling me to go to this place this morning. While I am not a very religious person I DO BELIEVE THAT THE CREATOR WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS, and today he showed me just how mysterious! I am so overjoyed! For those of you who know how hard of a time that I've had trying to find a job (and then deciding to wait since I was relocating) can understand where Im coming from!

Thanx for reading this EXTREMELY LONG post but I just wanted to share my joy!

ps

Before I left, I thanked the receptionist for her help b/c she could've simply had me fill out another ap and then tell me that I should hear something soon. Im thinking about giving her a thank you card and a gift certificate to Bath and BodyWorks to show my appreciation.

congrats! Sounds like the receptionist went above and beyond for customer service. Many places have a rule that employees can not accept gifts so I don't know if she would be able to accept a gift certificate, and, that may make an awkward situation if the receptonist needs to try to return that to you. I would suggest either filling out one of the facility's recognition cards if they have one (they usually go to the person's boss first) or, writing a letter to the receptionists boss personally letting them know how she went above and beyond. A thank you card is nice but it makes more of an impact if the boss is made aware in some form or another.

Congratulations!

Congratulations! It's proof that persistence does pay. The receptionist must have known that you meant business. :)
