Good Hospitals in DFW area

Published

Can anyone recommend some good hospitals in the DFW area that have good ICU departments that would assist in preparing for the CRNA program at either Weslayan or TCU?

Thanks,

JB

i know that there are some who post here who are in/have been in the wesleyan program here in ft worth so they may be able to shed more light than i can. i do know though that some who have gone/will be going to crna school have been at baylor all saints in downtown ft worth, some have worked at arlington memorial, i know that harris methodist ft worth (downtown) has many different icu's to choose from, baylor in dallas would probably be good. i am sure other people have their choices but those are some that stick out to me.

Go to Harris Methodist downtown Ft. Worth. They have an excellent CVICU!

Specializes in Neonatal.

I would recommend looking into Parkland Hospital or Baylor University Medical Center. Both are level I trauma centers with great ICU's that would prepare you for anything!

I took a travel contract to harris before I started the program at twu. overall it was ok. there is much bette experinces out there. but its a nice clean place with lots of policies to protect you and themselves. as far as experince goes I take a county hosptial that lets you get your hands dirty. I think all saints is that way

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

All Saints is not a teaching facility nor is it a county hospital. If getting your hands really dirty is what you are after, try John Peter Smith in Fort Worth or Parkland in Dallas. Both are teaching facilities with major residency programs.

Would a CVICU be better experience than a SICU? I would imagine you would not get the full spectrum of patient's in the CVICU, just heart and respiratory (important, but still...)?

"...a county hosptial that lets you get your hands dirty."

What does this sentence mean? Does it mean the hospital good or bad?

Sorry for troubling as I am a foreigner and couldn't understand this very well.

If you are interested in working PRN for location reasons try ETMC Tyler. They have 5 different ICU's and it is a Level 1 Trauma Center. Great experience with lots of Dr's and CRNA's ready to help. I think almost everyone that has applied to Wesleyan and TCU thus far from Tyler has been accepted (at least a dozen I know personally) If you are in a position to drive there from DFW area it is worth the experience.
