Can someone suggest a book for me to read relating to anesthesia. Are there any books out there regarding this profession (besides textbooks)?

i found 'watchful care -- a history of america's nurse anesthetists' ((isbn -- 0-8264-0510-x)) very informative! i knew the profession was well established...but had no idea just how it came to be.
this book is becoming difficult to find ((as i think it's going out of print))...but certainly worth the read!!
p.s. -- i found mine on www.half.com used ((and in great condition)), and might find it used on www.amazon.com
Thanks for the info, but its for sale for around $90 (used) on amazon???? Thats kind of expensive don't you think or am I missin something here...

That book is an interesting read, but not worth paying $90 just because it is out of print. Go to the AANA bookstore via this link http://www.aana.com/bookstore/books.asp You can order it from there for $25. Hope this helps.
yeah i agree...while the book is a good read...it's certainly not worth $90 ((no offense ms. bankert)). i got mine real cheap...less than on AANA...like $10 -- but buy it where you can find it!
happy new year!
Thanks for the links, $25 is much more managable, time to go pick one up.:)

Does anyone have a suggestion of a pharmacology book that would be good to have for interviews? One that includes specific mechanisms of action... Please let me know. Thanks.

I was recommended "Ether Day" - not sure if this is the kind of book you were/are looking for. An interesting read, anyway.
