Hi Im a student (2nd year) and I am going into placement in a week and I would really like to know of a general care plan for labour. Ive got plenty of books but they dont really have any sample care plans I was wondering if anyone could help. I found doing care plans ok before until I reached maternity. I dont know why but I have a block. Im sure it will become clearer when I get in there but I wanted to be prepared by having a general one in my head then rearranging it suit my client. Hope this all makes sense.

:) Don't worry... I had the same concern initially. I am in my OB rotation now and there are quite a few nursing diagnoses: Risk for Fluid Volume Deficit r/t post part hemm, risk for infection, skin integrity, etc. Plus there are nursing diagnoses r/t breastfeeding. Also, for the newborn, a major concern is body temperature regulation. As a student, I know how stressful care plans may be, however, I hope that you are as fortunate as I am in the clinical instructor department as this has been a great rotation. Best of luck!
awsome thanks for the tips guys.... this is a cool site .... lots of support

and if there is a csection involved, surgical care plans do apply, also.
