I am going nuts waiting for my classes to start. They don't start until the last week in october. But I am so excited to begin and get everything going forward. It feels like it is taking forever and I know this is only because I am looking forward to this so much, but I am going crazy. I just want my classes to start already so I can get into it and stop psyching myself up so much you know? I know I should have patience but o well too excited. lol. Just thought i'd see if anyone well else is losing it over waiting for school to begin lol. :redbeathe

i am in the same boat! at night before i go to sleep - that is all i can think about. it is a mix between anxiety and pure excitement. lol. i doubt i will be so excited when i pull an all night-er studying

i just cant wait to begin. my program starts in december. :banghead: but i will work up until then, so hopefully the wait wont be that bad.

:lol_hitti

Ugh I just want to know already when I start! I was supposed to have my admissions interview today but I missed it :crying2: I rescheduled tomorrow, but I'm so mad at myself for missing it. I hope to start either Sept 21st or Nov 2nd. (Hopefully Sept 21st!!)

I want to know too if there's anything I can do to prepare...like are there books I should be reading, etc. to get a head start. I've sort of started studying A&P and doing math to get ready for dosage calculations, but I don't know what else I could do.

One thing you can do is start studying Nursing Fundamentals. Also, get a copy of the Sauder's LPN Comprehensive Review and start studying that. This is what I have been doing waiting for school to start. Now, I am two days away from starting, and feel really prepared on what I am about to face. (at least I hope I am :wink2:)

If you are attending a Vocational School, most likely you will start with A&P, so that is another idea. I know how you feel though. I was excepted into my program in May and have been going stir crazy all these months. Once I got these books to study, I stoped obsessing over school starting and then before I knew it, it was time to buy my books for my class along with an assignment to do for our first day.

Hang in there and take advantage of your free time. Once class starts, free time will become a luxury.:heartbeat

I start Sept 3rd and am getting soooo anxious! I cannot wait! I'm glad I'm not the only one freaking out!

I honestly don't think there is alot you can do to prepare yourself. It is a CRAZY year.

I will tell you a few things I wish I had known last August:

Medical abbreviations/terminology....this was incorporated into my Nursing I. We had the book..told to study it..and then we had an exam.

Learn prefixes and suffixes. It is so much easier to break a word down and know what it means.

Learn some basic conversions. For instance, 1oz=30mL, 1tbsp=15mL, 1tsp=5ml, 1g=1000mg.

That is what I would find to be helpful. I hope this has helped. I remember being so excited and anxious to learn before I started. Keep that same attitude all year. It is truly worth it.

Now I can't wait to get pinned in December.

Wow! I think it's soo great that you're excited. Keep it up. ;)

Prepare yourself by browsing books so that you'll have an edge when classes start.

Good Luck! :)

I just completed my admission application and school is due to start in january. I am currently waiting for my entrance exam and admission interview. i was told to expect to complete these things in the next few weeks. i am so scared. I am a mom of 3 and knows how demanding this will be. i just pray that i do well and follow thru to continue on to be a RN.Do anyone know what i should expect on the entrance pre-test? is it basic? Thanks for any help you can offer and Good luck ladies/gents

I am 35 and a mom of 2. Going back to school was not the easiest but well worth it.

My NET test was pretty basic. I did study for it though because I have been out of school for so long. I really had to brush up on my math. Remember that saying "If you don't use it, you'll lose it?" I couldn't remember how to convert decimals and fractiions, how to add, subtract, multiply and divide them. It all came back to me but I would have been lost on the test if I didn't re-teach myself how to do it.

Good luck to you and you can do it.

Oh me too, busystudent! I've only been out of high school 2 years but I still forgot how to do a lot of things. I bought a Nursing Entrance Exam prep book (which also covers the HESI, which I didn't realize at first) and on the book's diagnostic test I got all the algebra and geometry right but I got all the percentages and division and multiplication wrong. I forgot how to do it by hand...they let us use calculators in school, so I haven't had to do that by hand since I was about 11. I had to completely reteach myself!

I got my NET back last week and I was so proud of myself for getting a 77 on the math. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I've never been good at math, so that was a little *yay me* moment. :yeah:

I have my appointment with admissions later today!! I'm so nervous!

O yea I'm with you guys awful at math. Studied extra hard for that. I was grateful that I had recently taken a bio class and that I had bought the teas testing book. It paid off thats for sure. Did great which made me so happy. :D lol. Foxy- it is mainly basic math with percents and averages and fractions, etc. Nothing too hard but really who remembers that stuff after high school. So def. study up on that and the science. Some dna and things like that and the english was just spelling and what words mean and how to use them. My advice is get a testing book because it never hurts to be overly prepared. And I have been reading up on medical terminology and I recommend everyone doing that because there is so much. I found some great sites through this one so have fun. Good luck to all :redbeathe
