Going back to the floor

I'm wondering what to do about getting back to the floor. I've been in IPN for 2.5 years, worked off my key restriction, currently teach RN students but I am relocating to a different city in Florida for family reasons. I have applied EVERYWHERE and have gotten hardly anywhere. My RN license is clear/active but I have a charge (NOT A CONVICTION) on my background for "attempt to obtain controlled substance by fraud" hence why I am in IPN. The two interviews I've had, I've told them upfront that I am in IPN. It's been about 3 weeks with no followup from them even though I've attempted to followup with them twice with no response. I have a phone interview with a different hospital setup next week and I have another potential interview if once the nurse recruiter talks to the director. I'm wondering - should I not mention IPN or anything until an offer is made since I've been upfront with the previous interviews and no responses from them?

I would assume that I would be considered since I've maintained a RN position for the past 2 years without any incidents or problems. Are hospitals that strict about IPN? The two hospitals that I have interviews with are a part of HCA and Ascension Health.

HCA is strict about a lot of things..don't know about Ascension. Have you thought about home health or another route other than hospital to get back into the swing of things? Part of the issue may be you haven't been working in a hospital setting for over 2 yrs. vs having been in IPN.

Thank you Marshall1 for your reply. I can't do home health until I reach my third year. One of my first interviews I told them I was in IPN, and the hiring manager didn't mind it at all - she said they get those kinds of people hired all the time. But it's been 3 weeks and I still haven't heard anything from them. My worry is my charge in my background. It was never a conviction, just a charge (but it's still a third degree felony). I'm in the process of getting it expunged but that takes 4 months to get it off. Has anyone ever been hired in a hospital while in IPN?

I only know of 1 nurse that was placed in IPN..she ended up being terminated because she would not follow the program - the hospital tried working with her (this was in Florida).

If you haven't heard anything there is no reason not to reach out to the person you interviewed or HR and simply ask what the status of your application/interview is. At least you will have some idea where things stand and that would help with the anxiety.

I too am trying to find recovery friendly hospitals, except in virginia. My license is clear but I am in the monitoring program. It's hard to figure out what kind of floor nursing is acceptable with a key restriction. So I feel your pain!
