I have an interview at a nice facility for a GN position in the ED. The thing is I am not a GN yet. I am just waiting for a CPNE date. They are aware and are basically letting me be a "GN"/paramedic with RN pay while I wait for a date. I am so surprised as I initially was just applying for a tech job!
How fast do you think I might be able to get a cpne date? I said I would be ready in october and only need 2 days notice for a cancellation test date.

where did you apply to take your cpne? i know the npac are moving the students right on through whereas the mpac is still scheduling people who applied in late april... i applied july 9th for the mpac and do not anticipate a date until late feb or march (maybe later) next year.

Wow, medic, that is fabulous!! I had to wait for my ATT letter for NCLEX before my ED would move me up to RN-applicant status and RN pay. Where do you live? Do they allow you to actually function as a paramedic in the ED?
Thank you. I applied at the npac because that's what I was hearing too.

This job is in MO. I don't think this hospital routinely staffs medics in their ED, but there are several in this state that do. It is a magnet hospital that seems to take really good care of their nurses. I am not sure exactly what my role would be, but if it gives me the chance to get some experience and to make the higher pay I am all for it.

You might get an NPAC cancellation date within a couple of months. I got one within two of failing the first time.
