Bless your heart. I saw that someone on Facebook Ohio RN to BSN academic outreach dropped out of this class during the third week. Did you read those postings??

I just signed up... Hope it wasn't a big mistake!! Good luck to you!
Good luck to you too. I'm so relieved I have someone else to bounce this off. As I took time to digest this couse, it isn't looking too bad, at least week one.
Hey,are you still with me? How is the first week going for you? I'm done with the first DB. Yup, lots of writing.
I'm looking for grades from the first week, nothing yet. Considering the next assignment is due Wed, I'd like to see how they grade to see if I am on target with how to do these long DB posts. Each one is like 2-3 pages with several references. I like the subject, not the format.

I just finished the class. The expectations for writing and APA are high, but the class is by no means impossible. I averaged a B the entire time and then came up to an A after an extra credit opportunity at the end. The professor did say she was changing the class for the next session to make it easier. The worst part was the facilitators taking forever to grade things.
Honestly, I'd rather have a class with high expectations where I learn a lot than classes with a bunch of ridiculous busy work (like Diversity which I just started).
You can do it!

Who is your TA? I had a great TA, again there were inconsistencies with grading
TA is A.S. I emailed her to ask that she take into consideration the students in the RN to BSN program, that we are working full time and taking other classes.... she responded that they are busy too with family and jobs... and she has 50 papers to grade. If it is a workload too much for the TA that should tell them something, that this is too much for one week.
That you pulled an A in this course, amazes me. I have spent nearly 20 hours this week on this one class and I am no where done. How am I to research culture and environmental factors in two different countries and apply that to a health issue, write it up as meticulously as I can, in 2 days!
This should not be a 5 week format. I've been up till 1 or 2am every day this week. I don't know if I can survive another 3 weeks.

Honestly, I just did the best I could. I tried not to hyperfocus and spend too much time on any one detail. I copied the questions or rubric into a document and typed out my answers below. Then I went back and added fluff and smoothed out transitions as need.
Also, don't make it harder on yourself by trying to do completely new topics/cultures for ever discussion post/assignment!! Use the resources you've already found. I wrote about India in almost all of my DBP and assignments. I also wrote about malaria and vaccinations for many of the assignments. The instructor even encouraged us to do that. By the end I had a folder of journal articles and quotes from the book that I was able to use. Also, when looking for posts to respond to, find some with similar topics and, again, use the resources you already have. For the first 2 weeks I spent HOURS on the discussion posts. The last 2 weeks I was able to write them in about 30 minutes or so. I realized I was spending most of my time trying to find articles and quotes and not enough time on just writing the post. Finally, the WHO is your best friend. As is the World Life Expectancy website she links to in the Global Health Systems report.
Also, I was a pretty solid B before the extra credit opportunity. And I would have happily taken that B. I actually liked this class (waaaaaaay more than I like diversity (4570). I learned way more about culture and diversity in that class than I am right now in 4570, which feels like useless busy work). I especially liked the videos she had us watch.
Feel free to send me a message if you have any other questions!
