Is any one in their New grad program? or an RN there. I was wondering the average nurse to pt ration, If they have LVN and CNA working on the floor with you and Which is better to work in telemetry or Med/Surg. Do you like it there? Are the other nurses supportive? Thanks for your input/advice

When I was a student rotating through there through TCU and Oncology the ratios were about 4-6 patients per nurse with a cna and sometimes an lvn working with them.

I thought California required 5-1 ratios max

I know what the ratio's are suppose to be but I know some times hospitals take CNA's and LVN's away to cut the cost of having lower nurse to PT ratios

Yeah at St Vincents LVN's take their own patient load with a RN cover the iv's and a cna for every 8 patients though to be honest as a student the cna's tend to disappear when the students arrive.
