A board I've frequented in the past would call you a "super sleuth". Excellent detective work. Interestingly enough' date=' that board also taught me that the media loves message boards and other social media to start them on leads. I wonder how long until they also discover this gem, whether it be here, Facebook, or wherever. Or perhaps that mom's posts on Facebook will go "poof" gone.[/quote']

Thanks. My husband says the same. My very analytical mind loves puzzles. And its like a puzzle calling out to be solved. If my hubs needed something, he would ask me to look. Google and the other search engines make it so easy.

Thanks Esme12. I had completely forgotten to mention in my post about the uncle saying she was moved by ground. That's another reason why I'm wondering if the media knows anything. So far the only thing I've heard them say is that she was moved by ground, so it might mean she is still in the California area.

Oh dear, this is distressing, but i thought I'd share. No Jahi sightings, but her younger brother is on an NBC interview (bay area) with Jahi's classmates, who are still wearing purple T shirts and praying for her. I really don't have much to say about it. My mind can't quite wrap around this continuing sad story. peace, out. have a great weekend. sorry I'm in AZ but got to rub it in. I hear the storm moved on to Europe.

just google nbc bay area Jahi's Classmates.

A commentor on a news site today posted an email they wrote to Chris Dolan and he wrote back.

My email to Chris Dolan:

On behalf of all of us who are NOT brain dead, please stop the charade of

dragging this poor girl through the mud and muck of your power-hungry and

money-grubbing delusions. You are certifiable, and I can only hope that the

State Bar of California sees fit to sanction you for your brazenly unethical

actions. You're a disgrace, and you're the reason that so many people

despise lawyers. Disgusting.

Thank you for your e-mail. You are obviously angry and confused. I helped

a woman make a choice. I did not make the choice for her. Had her choice

been different, a choice to take Jahi off the ventilators, I would have supported the family just the same.

I used the court system. That is ethical. No judge criticized my ethics, and I would assume that they are more familiar with the cannons of ethics than you are.

Perhaps you were unaware that at a press conference two weeks ago, in front of 20+ reporters, that the chance of a meaningful recovery was next to impossible, that Jahi could get worse rather than better, that she would never likely have a normal life. So, I have not led them astray, I have taken direction from them. What makes you think that these people are ignorant such that they would be led around by me? As far as money is concerned, I have not been paid a penny. I have not asked for a penny. I will not accept a penny. I will not represent them in a medical negligence lawsuit.

If you can identify some rule of ethics that you think I broke please do so. I am fairly familiar with them as I have been rated highest in ethics and ability by independent reviewing agencies for well over a decade.

I hope that you can find space in your world to allow this family to have their own opinions and choices. Be careful in giving away the rights of others so freely. You may never know when the rights in question will be yours.

Chris Dolan

I notice that his language is very careful so that, if necessary, he could always go back and claim he had acknowledged the fact Jahi McMath was deceased.

What a slimeball.

Here is a good article about hope and what it means in this case.

Jahi McMath and the Dangerous Language of Hope | David Casarett, M.D.

This is what I was referring to in my last post... the promise that there's always something more that can be done - realistic, reasonable, rational or not. Typically, the outcome is the same no matter what other measures are taken, and the time bought is not "good" time. It's just time. Those of us who work in critical care settings see this all the time and our experience will tell us early on which patients have the potential to recover and which ones won't. And so our moral distress begins much sooner.

Clearly having a conscience and being moral are two different concepts, one being defined by legal technicalities. Apparently I shouldn't be using those two words interchangeably as well.

Google children's house and California and it takes you to a non profit palliative care center called George Mark Children's House (that's across the bay in San Francisco). So I'm curious if that is where Jahi was taken, or if there is another place with that name/in the name. The uncle and lawyer did a news conference an hour or two after she left the hospital saying she was free and had been taken to a facility. So it makes sense with the timing. I found all that in less that 5 minutes. I think I'll go back to just reading everyone else's posts now.

Good sleuthing! One thing tho, if you look at their history & their board, the ties with CHO are pretty strong. Both founders are or were CHO staff - Barbara Beach MD is an oncologist at CHO. Also, their new medical director, who replaced Beach in that role last month, studied medical ethics under Arthur Caplan, who has vocally opposed this circus from day one.

It's certainly possible that they agreed to take this problem off of CHO's hands, but I think placing the trach & peg (if that really happened) kinda militates against that.

Fascinating mystery!

I haven't been keeping up with this thread, but Grandma said she was suctioning herself AND so was Jahi. On the Jane Velez interview she did. She stuttered and seemed to try to take it back. Did she slip up? Make a mistake?

The lawyer says he won't represent the family in a medical malpractice suit. So does this mean someone else in his firm (where he will still profit) will?

I don't know who is more ridiculous...the grandmother or Jane Velez.
