Gift for a Nurse

Published

Hi all,

I am seeking advice on what to get a nurse. One of the nurses I work with is leaving our LTC facility to work somewhere else. She has been unhappy there for pretty much the entire time she has worked there, but has stuck it out for a year. She has been so helpful to me as a CNA. She tells me before she is going to do a procedure so that I can watch and she explains everything so well. She knows that I am going to nursing school so she tries to teach me as much as she can. I am sad that she is leaving and I want to get her something. Any suggestions?

Anything personalized is nice. Perhaps a mug with her name and title.

If you look in on line scrub catalogs, they often have some small cute items that may interest you. Good Luck.

A hand written note letting her know how much you have gained and benefited by working with her and expressing your appreciation for her helpfulness. I think that would especially mean a lot to her since she wasn't too happy in the job, but stuck it out.

Take her out for lunch, and write her a letter telling her how much her help and teaching has meant to you. It has been my experience that people keep personal notes like that forever.

I know it's not as nursing related, but I would say a nice little potted plant with a thank you card.

All good suggestions.

When I left my job I had a nurse who was a very good mentor to me and I gave her a small angel pin with a handwritten note of appreciation and thanks for being my saving grace. She was touched but if I had it to do over again I would probably get something more practical like one of those cute cups Punky linked to.

Etsy has some really cute badge reels. That and a nice heartfelt card is my vote. :)
