GI Bill and nurse officer

If after serving as a nurse in the military and going back to civilian does one have the opportunity to utilize the GI bill for paying for graduate school if they elect or cannot re sign after their obligation is over as do enlisted members of the military? In other words, if I look to make the military a career but become medically disqualified after serving for a while or I decide that I do not want to re-sign, as a nurse do I have the same opportunity to pay into the GI Bill to use for my masters or is this only available to enlisted?

the gi bill counts the same for officers as enlisted. at least it did in my case. i had a partial ROTC scholarship for my 1st degree. when i got off of active duty i used a portion of my gi bill for a 2nd degree bsn program. you can use the gi bill to cover many types of education after you get off of active duty (bachelors, masters, or phd). i've even heard that the new gi bill can somehow be passed on to your kids. hope that's true.

you can go to va.gov website to see the details... the new bill has given branches the ability to pass it on to spouses and such - but is not implemented and possibly branches will have limitations on how and when that is authorized. The va.gov will tell you how long and in what capacity will qualify you for the gi bill.

Interesting about the family member use of the New GI Bill... I assume that having received benefits under the old Montgomery GI BIll, I would not qualify for the new bill when I get back in...
