Getting a VA license via "endorsement"

Published

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has gotten a Virginia license via endorsement online. I moved here from IL and looked up how to do it and am not sure if I did it right. I paid the fee, filled out a few questions, and was told it is "pending". Now, is that it? Don't I need to fill out paperwork in PEN and submit it to the Board of Nursing? Isn't a notary required? I feel like it can't be this easy! I must have missed something. Anyone who moved to VA, not from a "compact" state...please tell me what you had to do to get a VA license. Thanks in advance. :nurse:

I googled the IL Board of Nursing and found the following information:

Request a Certification or Verification

Certifications of Licensure include the licensee name, license number and status, license issuance date and expiration date, and method of licensure and disciplinary action, if applicable. The certifications also include the Department seal and official signature. If you are applying for licensure in another state, you should request an Illinois certification, which requires the fee as listed below.

Certifications must be requested by mail.

Please submit your request in writing to: Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Division of Professional Regulation 320 West Washington Street, 3rd Floor Springfield, Illinois 62786

Please include your name, address, license number, social security number, date of birth, and the name and address of the State Board where you want the certification sent, along with the required fee listed below.

Certification fees in the form of a check or money order payable to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation must be submitted with your request. The fees are as follows:

Profession Fee:

All Certifications (excluding the professions listed below) $20

Exceptions:

! Real Estate Professions, including Appraisers, Auctioneers and Home Inspectors $25 ! Loan Originators $25

! Medical Corporations (no fee) ! Professional Service Corporations (no fee)

Verifications of Licensure may be obtained from the License Look-up page of this Web site. The verification (or license look-up) information includes the licensee name, license number and status, city and state, license issuance date and expiration date, and disciplinary action indicator. There is no fee for this service. If you are unable to find the licensee information from the License Look-up page, you may contact the Department in writing at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation, 320 West Washington Street, 3rd Floor, Springfield, Illinois 62786. The printout generated from the License Look-up is the only format used by the Department to respond to requests for license verifications. License Look-up has been approved for use as a primary source for verification by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

The link to the pdf is at State of Illinois - Professional Nurse, with the link stating "Request verification/ certification."

Also, when I went to the VA BON webpage, they have a link for the form that you need to fill out and send to IL, as referenced above. Go to this page: Virginia Board of Nursing Forms and Applications

and click on the link that says Application and Instructions for Licensure by Endorsement. It's probably pending because you filled out the application but now they're waiting for verification from IL.

THank YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LINKS!!!

Is anyone applying to the VA board of Nursing by endorsement ? Apparently since 2016 they require a background check/fingerprints and I submitted my application but there is literally nowhere in the website where I could find where to go to get my background check done. I need information about this if anyone knows. I haven't even received an application receipt or anything at all. The board said to me to look at my application receipt.. I don't have one. So confusing.

Hey,

I'm going through the same thing. Here is the information I found: Virginia Board of Nursing Criminal Background Checks

  • Inside Virginia applicant fingerprints will be done electronically through Livescan, digital fingerprint image technology, which provides a faster and more accurate collection process.
  • Outside Virginia applicants are strongly encouraged to wait until they are physically in Virginia to initiate the fingerprinting process so that they may be done through LiveScan. If applicants do not wait until they are physically in Virginia the license process may be slower, as fingerprints must be done manually (ink and roll cards). Applicants will be able to select a local police agency to be fingerprinted but there may be additional costs to the applicant charged by the agency rolling the prints. Fieldprint will send a packet to the applicant with the print cards and instructions on mailing the print cards back once the prints have been collected on the print cards.
  • Fieldprint (Fieldprint Fingerprinting, Serving Virginia - Home) is the exclusive vendor for the VBON and is a nationally recognized service provider.
  • Fieldprint provides 24/7/365 fingerprint scheduling through their web-based portal and answering questions through their call center.
    • Schedule your fingerprint appointment online at FieldprintVirginia.com. Fieldprint's web portal will include details for creating your secure account and steps for entering the required information so that your appointment may be scheduled at your convenience.
    • Please remember to retain your VBON Fieldprint Code to complete your fingerprint scheduling registration.
    • Contact the Fieldprint call center for questions.

I hope that helps.
