Good morning amazing nurses of allnurses.com!
My question deals with the length of time it takes for an endorsement to be finalized in OKLAHOMA. I graduated from college in California took my boards in SAN DIEGO and moved to OKLAHOMA to be with my husband. I submitted my endorsement application probably 10 days ago and I'm not really sure what to believe in terms of endorsement.
They said I could call in 2 weeks to check the status of my application. However, from previous threads (here on allnurses.com) people have stated it may take up to 7 months (the thread was from 2010 I believe).
In short here are my questions.
1. How long it takes to get endorsement in OK
2. Should I apply for jobs even though my endorsement application has not been completed
3. How can I brush up on my nursing skills even though it's been 6 months since I've been outside of school. (it makes me nervous doing job applications knowing it's been 6 months since my preceptorship.
Thank you so much for reading!
God Bless,
Moobalde

Most of your questions are answerable by the OK BON. Call them. They can also tell you about refresher courses if you want that. You can apply for jobs but tell the HR people you're waiting for your license by endorsement.
Thank you for responding GrnTea!!! I will ask about refresher courses and start applying ASAP! As for the time it takes for endorsement... They gave me no answer for that and I'm hoping to still find someone here in OK to tell me how long their process took.

I endorsed my California license into Oklahoma back in late 2008 and it took about 4 weeks. The major holdup will be the fact that the California BRN is going to take forever to send your licensure information to the Oklahoma BON.
The Oklahoma BON is fast. The California BRN is super slow. . .

Thank you for responding TheCommuter. I definitely needed perspective on how long this will take. I've been driving myself crazy thinking I forgot paperwork or something silly like that. Are you still keeping your lisc. in California active even though you practice in OK? I plan on keeping both active. I'm just wondering your opinion on this.
I've actually never practiced in OK, so that license lapsed long ago. I endorsed my California LVN license into OK to attend an LPN-to-RN bridge program that required an Oklahoma LPN license prior to admission. Once I was done with school I let the OK license lapse. I was living in TX and attending school in OK.
I've been living in Texas for the past 7 years and have RN licenses in TX and CA that are both active.

Hi Moobalde,
I was wondering if you could give me an update on your endorsement. I have my license in CA and got a job in OK. I mailed my license verification to the CA BRN May 23rd and they still haven't even cashed my check. I know it's going to take some time but would like to know your experience...
Hope you found a job and feel better about your skills!
