German educated Nurse in California

Published

hello there all,

i got my nursing degree in germany in 2013 and moved right after to california.

i have a difficult time trying to explain the board and also my school in germany what each side needs.

the board doesn´t seem to understand that we don´t get grades for each class we take, and that the system is just different. and my school doesn´t seem to understand how to fill out the provided papers like the ´´breakedown´´, ´´transcripts´´ (we don´t have transcripts in germany) etc

is there anybody... somebody... who already went through that process???

i don´t know what else to do.

THANK YOU so very much

love,

damla

Unfortunately, the bottom line for you is that the California BON must receive proof of its basic educational requirements for application for NCLEX. If your German institution cannot or will not provide evidence of those basics, your only option may be to start over in California. Four years have passed since you graduated from German nursing school. No doubt that is not helping matters.

What do german nurses have in replacement of a transcript? You must have a document to show the subjects you took to attain a degree.

You don't get grades for the classes you take; can you explain it further? What do you receive then?
