New to board--MDS question

  1. Hi everyone. I have been watching on this board for several months, this is my first post. Have so far worked in the hospitals, dialysis, and alcohol/drug rehab. Currently working in LTC for less than 1 year. My question is-- I do not understand when and where to do a omra, could someone out there please enlighten me..

OMRA - Other Medicare Required Assessment

Usually done 8-10 days after a Medicare A covered resident is discharged from all skilled Rehab (PT/OT) services yet still qualified to continue Medicare coverage for a skilled nursing need until Medicare benefit days are exhausted.

In some instances, OMRA can also be used in conjunction with an SCSA (Significant Change in Status Assm't) if a higher RUGs (CMI) is warranted.
