I work in LTC as a licensed staff. Can I take a temporary part time job non related to nursing?

Specializes in Hospice, Palliative Care, OB/GYN, Peds,.

That would be according to the policy of the institution. I would not recommend it because it could cause role confusion for the other staff in the LTC. It would also be difficult for you to separate your roles if you had the knowledge to perform a task that was not included in the second job description. Good luck.

wy not.if its at a different place go for it

Specializes in Cardiac/Step-Down, MedSurg, LTC.

If it's non-nursing related, and not in your facility then I say go for it! If you need money, you need it! :)

would you be making as much as you would as a nurse? is this within the same building? How about picking up prn shifts?

Specializes in Gerontology, Med surg, Home Health.

I worked in a place where the DNS and ADNS thought they had the right to demand to know if any of us had any other jobs. I protested saying as long as I did the job THEY were paying me for in that building, they didn't need to know what else I did. They disagreed so finally I told them that I had taken a job as an exotic dancer at a local club. I thought they'd both faint. If you want a second job why not. And by the way, I am NOT the exotic dancer type!

Why not, you might have to declare them both in your taxes etc. Good Luck!!
