How Many Residents Do You Care For On Your Unit?

Naturally, I think I have waaay too many residents to care for  so I'd like to do a quick reality check:

As a charge nurse in a LTC/SNF, how many residents are you responsible for on your unit? What shift do you work, and which state do you work in? (It's OK if you don't want to indicate the state--I am just curious if it varies by state...)

I'll start! ;)

41 residents on 3-11 shift in Hawaii.

When I worked in LTC, I had 30 patients on 11-7 in Florida. That was with 2 nurses and 3 CNA's for 60 patients total on our floor.

39 residents 2 nurses, 5 cnas

49 residents total, and i care for 20-25 on my shift.

39 residents 2 nurses, 5 cnas

Interesting. I have 41 residents, 1 nurse (me) and 4 CNAs.

No wonder I'm so stressed... :uhoh3:...I need another nurse!

32 residents 1 nurse ,2 cna, 2 - 10 :30 shift

My responsibility is 20 residents with 2 CNAs on wknd 7a to 7p. Our unit has 60 beds; if we're full we run with 3 nurses and 6 CNAs. When census is low we run with 2 nurses. So for me as a new LPN taking care of 30 residents is too much.

I can't imagine having more than 20 residents on a regular basis.
