Are there any nurses that just want to do their job? No fuss No muss Just leave me alone to work, work ,work!

No kidding I want a job where the aides don't think they are nurses, give meds w/o dr orders, get ua's w/o authorization, etc.

Any such animal in Oregon? :bluecry1:

I'm here in another state! Maybe we could all start just ONE REALLY GOOD functioning facility somewhere...?

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

You & me both, oregon-rn! By the way, what part of the state are you in? (Mid-Willamette Valley here........):)

Just because you have your BSN does not mean your a better nurse then the RN with her ADN...and just because your an LPN does mean your not as smart as an RN (ADN or BSN) and just because your a PCT/CNA does not mean your not as smart as the LPN or RN...I have seen nurses (rn bsn and adn and lpns) who think they know everything and then when they need help who do they come and ask the PCT/CNA....I am working on my ADN and I am a CNA and when I finish my ADN I am doing a GATEWAY program to get my BSN and then off to CRNA...and I know a lot about nursing...this man that I know was 24 years old with his BSN and was the best nurse in ER and got a job as DON...and one day the GBI came in and he was not even a nurse he broke into the computer and got a number off a dead person and had a fake lic...and he was smarter then anyone there and fooled everyone...

...and you admire someone like that?

I don't think he was very smart at all....he was playing with people's lives. How do you know he knew more than the other nurses if you haven't even become a nurse yet yourself? He could have REALLY caused harm to a patient.....or a family member of yours.

I don't even know what else to say lpnga. Choose your heroes wisely. I think you've just illustrated oregon-rn's point to a tee, thank you.

Oregon-rn, THAT would be a wonderful situation.:D

It's the people that think they already know everything that really don't know anything at all. I KNOW that I don't know everything....I'm in a constant state of learning...as is every other RN that I know.

Anne;)

What Anne said. So. Many. Disturbing aspects to that post, I don't even know where to begin. Yikes.

oregon-rn, the answer to your last question:

Any such animal in Oregon?
would be "no." Not in Oregon, not anywhere. Sorry. ;)

Is Oregon one of those states with medication aides? Here the aides wouldn't be doing any of those things because state would hang us up to dry! They can't so much as hand a person their tylenol.

lpnga, What is your point?

The topic isn't "who's better or smarter" and the rest of your post just makes my head spin.

you do not know me and can not tell me who to chose as a hero.....this man saved so many lives...it's sad that you all think that just because your an RN with their ADN that you are so smart and the aides are nothing but in the way and think they are nurses...In clinicals as a CNA our nurses on our hall did nothing and could not figure out why patients wont eat and don't want to shower and don talk to anyone...it's because you all think that you know everything and some of you are "dumb as rocks" (not saying that you all are, but some nurses..I have no idea how they made it through school) Who do the nurses run to when they can't get the pts to eat...ME....I talk to them and get to know them and guess who eats, showers and talks when I am around...Some people don't think of the pts and their feelings and that they have a life and a family and a past.. they just go on give them their food, meds, and tell them what to do ..and they are older then you and wiser then you themselves and need you to be there to help them not demand things of them...

The man that was not really a nurse did not hurt lives....he saved them...and when ask why he did not just go and challange the boards he said he wished he had....if some nurses new the things he knew.,.have you not ever heard of some people just being born with a talent? Well he was one of those people...

If you read this then to me it sounds that she thinks the aides are in her way...and really they should make her job easier....and to me she thinks because she is an RN that she is better then the aides and that is not always the case....

I think Teamwork is the key.. if we all work, work, work together everyone benefits. :)

I can understand you taking this the way you have. I also understand that you are a bit upset due to a loss in the family last night, so that may be affecting your "venting". This is a good place to vent and we all do it. However, I have to admit that I think you may be taking this a bit wrong. The poster was just stating that aides are not to do certain things and sometimes they do, or try to. Sometimes aids know the patients very well (as you mentioned) and are only trying to help the patient. But the law is that they cannot do those things, and there are reasons for these laws. When the aids do not understand limits there is friction and if I am reading this poster right, they just wish they could work without this friction -- let the aids do their jobs and let the nurse do their jobs etc.

Feel free to correct me if I got this wrong, I am not perfect either!
