Weekend Option/Baylor Shift

U.S.A. Georgia

Hi, I'm new to this site and have been looking around but haven't seen this question asked recently. I'm looking into nurse residency programs in metro Atlanta, specifically Emory/Piedmont/AMC/Northside/Dekalb Medical, and I was hoping someone could tell me if any of these hospitals offer a weekend only option or baylor program. I have a 1 year old little girl and it would make life for my family so much easier if I just needed someone to help watch her on the weekends.

A lot of Baylor programs have either been done away with or changed to the weekends plus one (meaning one shift during the week). I have never known of a nurse residency/new grad being a weekend only position - doesn't mean there isn't any - just never known of these types of positions. I'd suggest checking the web sites of the places you are interested in and calling or emailing HR and asking. Home health, hospice and LTC offer Baylor sometimes though again its usually Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun and 1 day during the week. I know of one LTC that is actively seeking a baylor nurse 7a-7p but they are requiring 1 8 hr shift during the week as well.

Thanks for the info, weekend plus one would be great. Maybe once I'm established somewhere I could switch over to that shift. Do you know if weekend shifts are highly sought after or do you think I will have a reasonable chance of being able to work weekends once I'm through with an internship?

No worries. You want to work extra weekends? You'll have plenty of trades available. I just wish you lived in Indianapolis!

Shepherd Center has Baylor/weekend option, too. Best of luck!
