Mercer university advice please!!!!

Hello Everyone,

I really need some serious advice. I live in Atlanta ,Ga, and attending my last semester at GPC now.

I am trying to get into my dream school Mercer University. I plan on taking the Teas before December 2010, depending which date i get. Im currently studying for it and also taking my last 2 classes (Nutrtion and Philosophy). My main concern is, i want to start the nursing program fall of 2011 I know i can start sooner but im planning to get married before fall 2011, so i can get the wedding planning and honeymoon out of the way before i start nursing school. I wanted to know when is the best time for me to start applying and sending my transcripts and as soon im done with my Teas i will be sending that also. I just dont know if its too soon for me to apply now, since i still have 2 more classes left and my Teas.

Also i know the school is very expensive, but i wanted to know how i can go about getting scholorships. should i start apply for them now. Or should i wait to get accepted first. Also where do i go to apply?

Im sorry for all the questions, im so confused and nervous because mercer is so competive.

Also i would like to know what are some classes that are considered general elective, and what cultural apprication , can i take it at GPC?

Human Anatomy=B

Physiolgy=B

Microbiology=C

Eng1101=B

Eng1102=C

Stats=B

Abnormal psyc=A

Economics=C

Human growth and development=B

Religion=A

Sociolgy=A

Speech=B

Philosophy= currently taking and will complete in December 2010.

Nutrition=currently taking and will complete in December 2010.

Wow i have so many C's...would you guys recommend me to take those classes over and get an A? Or should i just forget about them and hope i get accepted?

First off to apply you would go to their website, Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Home .

I would recommend going on one of their campus tours/ open houses and you will get information, they have spring dates open. It is a little early to apply now, you do have an essay to write so you could start writing that. They do ongoing admissions so I would advise to get it in early. On their website you can read all of their criteria for admission.

so if i want to apply for fall 2011, should i apply now?

even though i have not taken my teas, and still have 2 classes left. i am currenttly working on that and the essay.

Can someone please tell me about the essasy, do i just hand it in after i typed it to the advisors whenever i am done.

I would not apply now. I would take the TEAS and finish my essay and send all the application as one packet, maybe in jan or feb. You can call and speak with one of the adivsors there and see what they suggest. I would also suggest to apply to several places to have many options.

I really do not know which other schools to try.

GSU, CSU,KENNESAW is all i would consider but its really hard for me because each of those schools have different requirements that i have to meet.

gsu is a 3 year program so i do not want to apply there, and csu i would have to take 4 more classes, and kennesaw also 4 more classes. i just do not know which ones i should apply to.

do you know any other schools in ga that i can check out?

I heard MCG is good but the location is far.

Also do you go to Mercer now?

I decided that while Mercer is an excellent school, the cost was just not worth it in my situation. I did go to their open house, which was very informative. I decided to go to Georgia Highlands, which has a Marietta campus, I just started about to begin week 2. There is also North Georgia College, which has a campus in Alpharetta. There are others Georgia perimeter, Gwinnett tech, Emory. You are right, they will all have different requirements so you might want to check out their websites, most have all of their requirements listed. You will just have to decide which program is right for you. I would recommend looking for a hospital to volunteer in, it could help your chances as well. I started to volunteer before entering the program and I am really glad I made the decision.

Hello,

The earlier you apply with a complete app the better. Take the teas in the next couple of months. You can only take it twice, so make sure that you are ready when you sign up for it. I would apply in December once you are done with you last two classes. Do some community service during this semester also. Mercer likes well rounded students. Try to score really high on your teas.

Do you think i should retake microbiology and eng1102 because of the C's i recieved, or should i just let it go. Btw im not registered for the nutrtion and philosophy classes now, im trying to get in all the classes are full. if i dont get a class and decide to take it in january will i still have enough time to apply to mercer for fall 2011. I will get the teas done in a couple of months, but im just wondering what you think about me taking the classes in january. will it be too late for me to apply for fall 2011?also what is cultural appreciation and general elective courses considered.
