Emory New Grad Residency Fall 2016

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hoping someone on this form can help me! I am graduating in early August 2016 and am looking at applying for Emory's new grad residency program. I don't find their website to be helpful at all. I see the link for the external new grad applicants with listings of jobs but is there not a generic application for just the residency?

From what i read, it seems as though they start their new grads at the same time, spring or fall, so should I apply now even though I am no where near graduating? I need some clarification please!

Any other helpful info is great. Recommend any other Atlanta Hospitals?

Thanks!!

Hello! I know that a feed has already been started for their new grad residency. I try to stay with it because I hope to apply next year (: I will try to leave a link below. Hope this helps!

The application period that started a couple months ago was for those that graduated in June or early. You will have to wait for the next round and it will say nurse resident in the job application. There were over 700 people that just interviewed for the residency and I was lucky enough to be selected for the ED residency. Good luck to you!

Ahhh! That's so exciting! I really hope I am able to get a position there next Summer/Fall 2017 *praying*

Did they ask you about your experience in the ED/ICU? I've heard it's hard to get an ICU position so ED would be my next choice ... but I'm hoping the ICU experiences I have in nursing school currently will speak for me.

Not specifically. There were 8 people from Emory in the interview and I believe 6 of us. They asked each of us to introduce ourselves, then asked each of us 1 question. One person was asked about working with diverse patients, another about a project they were apart of and another question about a time you went 1 or 2 extra steps for the patient. I can't remember the other questions because I was so nervous. We were each asked a different question. Then they said they had run out of time and couldn't ask us the additional question they had, but then they asked for us to tell them what hands on experience we had in clinical. I have my LPN license and I was a healthcare specialist (EMT-basic) in the military and told them about that and my deployment which I think was the main reason I was selected. Then they let us each ask one question and that was the end of the interview.

Oh and they asked us what was our first and second choice. Of course I said ED and second CVICU. Now that I think about it there were 6 of them. 2 from ED, 2 from CVICU and 2 from Neuro ICU. There was a separate table with the other ICU units.

Okay! Thanks for the info! I'm assuming that when I apply it will be panel as well... I'm just really passionate about becoming a critical care nurse, so hopefully my prayers will be answered with Emory or another hospital in that area. Ahh! (:

I (along with a bunch of my classmates) interviewed for critical care. I do not think it was particularly difficult to get an ICU interview there. Good luck!

Hi Phiaflyy! Did you start a thread for FY17 graduates; due to finish in May and interested in staying in touch about new Grad opportunities in Atlanta area?

Hello! No I didn't start a new thread or anything. I have only applied to Emory for their summer residency. When I contacted a few other places they stated that they would be opening up apps around Feb 2017.

Best of luck to you and are you in the area? I'm extremely interest in any info you have regarding summer new grad programs. As a result of relocating to the area I was hoping to apply to multiple hospitals at the same time, so if interviews were scheduled I could arrange to travel in one time for multiple interviews; trusting God for good results and being optimistic.
