Emory Accepted Students Fall 2011

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello! I have been accepted to Emory's 2011 BSN program, and I wanted to create a new place for those that have also been accepted to keep in contact as we prepare for the fall. I am also interested in current and past students to offer any vital information that will help make this transition easier. I know this will be a very challenging program and I can only imagine everything I must do to be successful. So all advice and discussion are welcome!

As of now, I am very anxious about financial aid because it is unlikely that I will be able to submit my income tax return by March 15th. What are all my joining class thinking about now that we got the acceptance part out the way?:yelclap:

oaktown2: I also went to an Experience Emory session and just seeing the school was inspiration for really writing a great essay. Everyone was so friendly and informative. The students I spoke with were so knowledgeable and seemed to really be proud and happy to be Emory students. I was also impressed with the simulation lab. Also, Emory is connected to so many hospitals which only opens doors after completing the degree. Also, I think the program is ranked #26 in the country...not too bad.

Congratulations everybody!!! :-) ... I hope some of you were able to make it to the Open House this morning!

Looking forward to see you all on campus this Fall!! :-)

About the TEAS, please don't freak out!

Last semester they had us take it during the 1st week of class. They just want to see where you're at in terms of academia. If you score badly ( and you won't) - they won't tell you that you can't come in, you're already accepted.

Emory is great at helping its students, the BSN program is not your typical undergraduate program, it is very intense, more like a professional school program, so they want to make sure that they know where everybody is at pretty early in the game, so they can provide you the help that you need ( if needed) to succeed early on to the program.

Got my official letter in the mail today!!!!!! Yay!

I am going to wait to pay the deposit until AFTER I found out how much financial aid is going to be... :-p

Keeping my fingers crossed!

From the letter it sounded like the TEAS was going to be used as a guide to see if you need "services offered by the campus" which in my mind I got remediation classes!

(which may be needed for some of the people who have been out of school for a while!)

If you guys need the Mcgraw Nursing Entrance exam book I have it in pdf format..shoot me a message on here and I can send it to you (it is good for the science portion of it)..also if you are worried about the TEAS I would get the book (make sure its the TEAS version 5 book on the atitesting website)...I had to take the TEAS for KSU's program..so I am glad that is overwith!!!

Giovie, thanks for the TEAS information. Do you know if some type of remediation courses are given to those that don't score so well on the TEAS? Or what type of help do they provide?

I got the TEAS book a few years ago and was hoping I wouldn't have to use it lol....I'm glad now that I kept it.

@creece15 - I was so hoping my letter would show up today, but not yet. Did they say that you need to take version 5? I had to take 4 for another school and would prefer to not take it twice!

Honestly @ Oaktown I dunno which version they want. I wish they would have put that in the letter! lol

I know Kennesaw & Mercer requires the new TEAS version 5.......thats the one I took (a LOT of biology and chemistry not any physical science such as rocks, clouds like on version 4)...

@shiningstar..if Emory wants the TEAS version 5 i do not think the old book will help (if its purple)..the new one is like white and has a kid at a computer on front...

Maybe we should find out what version they want...lol

IF you guys need some study stuff for the TEAS my friends and I made this awesome (if i may say so myself) study guide for version 5 from the new teas book/mcgraw hill nursing exam book.....so just let me know if you want me to send it to you!!! I made an 86 on it and the national average is a 62...

That's awesome! I would really appreciate some study guides for the TEAS because I definitely have the old one lol. I'm registering for it right now...May 7th at Mercer University. Do you live in Georgia creece?

I do live in Georgia...I go to Kennesaw State now...You?

I live in Atlanta and I'm taking my last pre-req (Organic Chemistry) at Chattahoochee Tech.

I HATEDDDDD organic chem...ugh...I still have to finish micro and ap2 this summer (oh joy LOL)..but at least I have something to look forward to now! lol

Ummm yes tell me about it lol! I would give anything right now to be taking A&P2 or Micro again because this REALLY sucks!!! I'm sure those classes will be a breeze for you, though. I'm trying to study for a midterm on Monday, but I can't seem to focus very well with all this Emory excitement.
