Applying for NGCSU fall 2013 asn program?

Hello! I am soooo nervous and anxious to get into North Georgia's program!! Last year I was wait listed and I had a 2.79 GPA and a 76.7 teas score. I've already taken a&p, with a's, b's and one c and I took micro, but failed. I'm taking it again this semester. I could've argued the grade, but the teacher was fired after one semester of working there and I figured that I needed the knowledge anyway, so I'll just retake it next semester. Anyway, I went and talked to my wonderful wonderful advisor and she looked at all my stuff, saw that all my core classes were pretty much done, save micro, computer science 1150 and English 2112, and said "well you are in very good shape, just take the teas one more time to stand out and look for some good news around saint Patrick's day" what?!?!? I now have a 2.84 GPA and I retook the teas, scoring 2 points lower. (I don't even want to talk about it lol) so, I'm curious as to what others stats are? If others have been in the same situation? Thanks :)

By the way, my school required a 2.75 GPA and a >65% on teas.

Hi. I was wait listed last year with a 3.00 and 74 on the TEAS exam. I retook the TEAS and now have a 76.7. I have all B's in both my A&P classes and an A in Micro but it was taken in 2001 when I graduated with a BS in Biology. I applied for Fall 2013 and crossing my fingers I will get in. I know I don't have the GREATEST stats but I think I have some pretty good ones.

Hey jessleigh91! I was waitlisted last year, too. My stats at the time was a 2.78 GPA and a 78.6 on the TEAS. I took back-to-back A/P 1 and 2 over the summer semester of 2012 and got an A and a B, respectively. I withdrew from Med. Micro. this semester and will be taking it next semester.

My advisor told me to get my GPA up to at least a 3.00 and my TEAS to the 80's. The TEAS was taken again, but got the same darn score! Well, can't do much in that area anymore. ;p But I am hopeful to get that most coveted acceptance letter after scoring a 3.06 this time around.

Btw, a classmate got in with a 2.98 and a 83 TEAS with A's and B's in her A/P's. This should make us hopeful, people! ;)

The nursing program for NGCSU is held at THREE campuses. The main campus is at Dahlonega. The other two are Cumming and Gainesville.

Is the program for LPN's who are bridging? Sorry for the questions Im still trying to navigate through the website. If I am correct the Cumming location is the newer location?? Or not? I noticed that some have taken the Teas 3 times. Is that acceptable in this school? I know that at GPC you can only take it twice. Please help.... Lord knows, maybe the third time would be a charm for me!!! Oh are there any info sessions coming up in the future??

No Problem Nurse2b7337! They do have a LPN to RN bridge program that starts in the summer only. I am not sure if the Cumming Location is new because I just found out about the program about two years ago. The Cumming Location was an option then as well. Yes I sure have taken that test three times!!! The TEAS can only be taken twice a year and cannot be less than six weeks apart. They are only valid for two appliction years. The one I took in 2010 doesn't count anymore. The last two I took in Jan 2012 and Oct 2012.

I found out about the program by doing some research on nursing schools outside of Atlanta. My mother (who is a middle school teacher) told me that one of her co-worker's husband applied to GPC and got rejected and then started to look outside of ATL and found a school in the north georgia region and got excepted there. When I was taking my pre-req's at GPC, my instructor told me to apply to schools outside of ATL as well or outside of the state if I could. He said it's because ATL is a major city and there are so few schools in the metro area it has a HUGE pool of applicants but not enough slots (bc of the nursing teacher shortage).

I found that NGCSU will work well for my schedule with me being a mother and an older student. I work overnight as a police officer and it will definitely give me time to study and keep my job for at least the first semester or first year. You won't be in a class room 40 hours a week so it gives you a time outside of that for studying and other things.

I know most people want to just jump right into the BSN program however this is an ADN program. BUT you can continue on to get your BSN right there at NGCSU! I already have a BS in biology so I am not to concerned at the moment. I will however continue and get my BSN in nursing. It's all online as well so I can still work as an RN at certain hospitals while obtaining it. My ultimate goal is to get my masters! There is no opportunity like the present to do so at this time.

Hope this wasn't too long of a response.

P.S. The info sessions are offered the last monday of each month. I have not attended one. I had a one on one conference with the head of nursing about a year and a half ago to obtain more insite =)

NikkiT09 you are awesome!! You answered all of my questions!! :) I really wanted to obtain my BSN but it looks like I may have to get my ADN first. My teas score was in the low 60's. this is why I'm so nervous to apply to the major universities. The advisor gave you great advice to apply outside of Ga. Do you know if their clinical sites are at major hospitals in Georgia?? I think I will take my transcripts with me and attend their info session. No problem!! To apply to NGCSU your TEAS score has to be at least a 65 and 2.75 GPA. You have stumped me with the clinical sites question! Lol. I am not exactly sure where their clinical sites are located. I am sure they have a major hospital in the northern region. They may even come to the metro ATL area for some of the sites!
