Graduated excelsior January 2017. I have taken states twice since graduated and failed both times. I Have been a dialysis nurse for 14 years, i have also done LTC, HOSPITALS, Case management and group homes. I recently left dialysis and has been working in LTC. My question is once passing boards is it possible that I want have to complete 320 preceptorship hours since I will have worked over 320 hours as an LPN. Curious to know what recent or pass graduates have done who needed to complete preceptor hours?
hoping i can get pass 320 preceptor hours since I have been working for a nursing agency in psych and long term. . would love feedback

By "states," do you mean the NCLEX? National boards? They aren't by state. Under which BON are you taking the NCLEX? Are you trying to do licensure by exam in Georgia, or endorsement?
Have you looked at the guidelines on the GBON site? They are very specific regarding what kind of education and experience is needed to be licensed in Georgia. It's not a one-for-one hours trade.
Go here: Download Forms
Look for the link to the "Guidelines - Graduates of Nontraditional Nursing Programs." That will spell it out.

Not sure. I know in 10 more days I can work in Georgia under my compact state license. But won't be getting my license from there since I reside in another state.
I know that before, there was something about precepted hours in med-surg, L&D and psych and I think something else. I just know it used to be more than 1 area. Check on their BON website for new changes that might impact you and your situation.
Two threads merged. Thanks. :)

Good evening,
Have you thought about taking the NCLEX in another state and then getting your RN via endorsement in Georgia? I have read about other EC ADN graduates doing this, but unsure if the preceptorship still applies?

Not a loophole. People would still be required to do a preceptorship unless they worked elsewhere as an RN for at least a year or two, depending on background. It's all in that document that I referenced.
