Oh I am super excited!! Tomorrow morning I will be up and out of the house by 6:30am, on my way to start summer I microbiology. I read the first six chapters this weekend. I also went to the textbook website and watched some animations and did some multiple choice practice tests!! I cannot wait to get into lecture, and we are going to get to look at microbes-I am so, so excited about this!! I have class from 9:30-1:30 and then I am going to the library to study and read more chapters. This is sure to be an adventurous class experience, and then August will bring NS!!!:yeah::loveya::yeah:

I start Micro at the end of June. Not looking forward to it. I got through 3/4 of the class and had to drop it due to too many things going on in life at once. So I have a lot of the information. I just don't want to drive an hour total for each class twice a week at 7. oh well.

I don't ever remember being that enthusiastic about micro, nor do I feel like I actually used it in nursing school, but more power to you. Sometimes microbes are pretty cool. Good luck!

I am SKEERED! LOL! I start Thursday :) I am excited though, too. I read the first weeks reading material but that is all I have done so far. It took me a while to read it b/c it was so much novel information I needed to stop and digest every page or two. I wish I could read 6 chapters in a wkd! LOL! How on earth did you do that so quickly?!

Micro is amazing!! especially the labs. It really changed my perspective not to mention I washed my hands more!! Summer classes are really great .... you seem really prepared so im sure its not needed but Good Luck!!

Wow. You're more excited about Micro than I was when I started last week! Good luck! I know when I start nursing school I"m going to start reading chapters waayyy ahead of time.

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Good luck! I agree with a previous poster about not really using it in NS....but I suppose it's an interesting class nonetheless. Summer classes fly by, so that's a good thing.

---I always said I was going to do this too.....until nursing school actually starts....and then you BARELY have time to even get through the chapters, nevermind read them ahead! LOL! I am going into junior year of my program and have a feeling that this won't change...:D

MICRO "YIPEE", TURNS TO "YIKES"!!!! Oh my!! Yes I am still excited, but that professor is absolutely-No Nonsense!!! Good Lord, I am a little intimidated. Don't get me wrong, still excited but it is tinged with a hint of "reality" now. He warned "no regurgitating, mostly essay answers" Geeze, I hope I can pull off the "A" for this one. I never even went to bed last night because I was so hyped up, and then after all of that and the class, I thought I was going to collapse! I went into the restroom and for the first time in about a year, started crying a little. I dont want to do that because I have really accomplished not being so emotional and staying positive and emotionally neutral. I was just exhausted, and I am scared I wont sleep again tonight.

I started Micro yesterday too, after a looong day spent hurry up and waiting to register for NS, take first step TB test etc. I've noticed that the closer we get to the actual program, the more drill sargeantist the teachers seem to be, but that's probably good so we get a little taste of the atmosphere of boot camp (oops! Nursing School!)beforehand. Now picture a petite 5' tall D.S. who is excited about her subject and seems to really care about her students. :)

Hope you enjoy the rest of your semester - let us know how things are going.

Oooh I remember having mostly essay tests in Micro. It was hell and I started looking forward to pop quizzes in lab just to boost my grade a little, but you just have to know your stuff. I hope you'll do just fine. :)

I didn't plan on taking micro until nursing 3 (fall 2010) but I've heard bad things about it, so I'm thinking of taking it by itself next summer instead. I'm glad you're still excited despite going through the first day....hang in there!
