What does your school have you wear to the Pinning Ceremony?

Hi Everyone!

I'm the Co-President for our SNA here at American River College in Sacramento, CA. I'm trying to research what each School of Nursing has the students wear for their Pinning Ceremony and how much you have to pay for it. What do you guys wear to your pinning? Right now we wear our clinical scrubs to pinning. The same ones we've been in clinical in for the past 2 years. :-/ We are trying to change that but need to do a bit of research.

I'd love it if some recent grads from any Northern California nursing schools could respond! :) Sacramento City College, Sierra College, Delta Community College, Yuba College, De Anza College, Cabrillo College, Chabot College, Sacramento State, Chico State, Stanislaus State... we would love to get your input! Thanks!

I don't really care for scrubs, but uniforms are the most (only, really) appropriate apparel for a pinning ceremony. The nursing pin is inappropriate on academic gowns or street clothes. At my school, we wore whites which was exciting because it was our first time wearing whites rather than our school uniforms.

When I finished my LVN program we HAD to buy a set of whites it was embroidered with the schools logo. I wore it once just for the photo op. If you opt to wear a uniform make sure it's something people can use over again.

I think new scrubs would be nice

Our school required white scrubs for pinning. I didn't like that I had to buy a set of impractical scrubs that I'll never wear again (although it just occurred to me that I could keep them at work as a backup). In addition, though I don't have much of a sentimental side when it comes to ceremonies, I would have rather been pinned, alongside my classmates, in the navy blue scrubs I actually wore to every clinical, which were far more meaningful to me than the ones I selected from Amazon the week before.

It made my mom happy, but I think she would have also liked my threadbare ones, or the white lab coat I was required to buy that I only ended up using in one two-week rotation.

I vote stay with your usual scrubs, and let everyone save their money (or use it for a good celebratory night out)!

Or, for a little fun, people could wear a set of solid-colored scrubs of their choice (which might be helpful for those who've already landed a job and might have to purchase a certain color).

The month before we graduated we had to attend a mandatory fitting for our pinning uniform. Women wore a traditional white nurses uniform with white stocking, skirt, jacket and of course a nurse's cap. Men wore all white (pants, button down shirt and jacket) with a blue and maroon tie (school colors).

We wore white scrubs and white shoes, and male and female were told to wear white or flesh colored underwear....most of us did.

White scrubs, just like we wore for clinicals.

White scrubs to clinical? I did not think any schools did that anymore.

Oh but yes. My school scrubs are white. I graduate in May. It's been a challenge keeping them fresh. The school did change the color to grey for the incoming freshman class. It does not include us though.

We wore dress clothing and graduation gowns, no caps. Those of us graduating with honors also wore our cords.
