What does FES stand for?

Nursing Students General Students

This is in reference to a potential complication of joint surgery.

I'm observing a TKA on Monday.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

Complication? Hmmm I know it as:

Functional Electrical Stimulation

I googled it... Looks like if you are referencing a potential complication, then its Fat Embolism Syndrome, but I also saw references to FES as being functional electrical stimulation - used for increasing ROM after joint surgery.

Here is the site I found..

Hope that helps, and good luck Monday!

I think you got it, thank you! And thanks for the wish for luck. I've heard the surgeons are famous for making the nursing students cry, so I'm more than a bit apprehensive.
