    1. To all the nurses that have rolled their eyes, sigh loudly, ignored, muttered under their breath, uttered out loud, and twisted their faces in weird configurations over the last four years when I asked my many questions (and some, very odd questions in retrospect but never stupid) I would like to say...

    - I can also curse, roll my eyes, utter nonsense and contort my face. But I don't because I am only a student (and not stupid), but I'm sticking my imaginary tongue out at you while I smile and politely move out of your way.

(PS thanks for the overwhelming number of excellent nurses, that absolutely love to share information and experience with us who are learning even though it isn't your job!)

I had clinicals again this past weekend and worked with a different nurse and boy was she AWESOME ! She showed me everything. We did assessments togehter, she taught me how to do some dressing changes, she let me ( with my instructor ofcourse) discharge a pt. , I watched her take out sutures. She was just amazing. She even had me talke with a MD to request something for my patient and suprisingly the MD listened to a silly ole nursing student ! I had a wonderful clinical experience this weekend. So I guess this thread started out as venting but I'm here to say that all nursing staff isn't bad and I found that out this weekend.

To my old tech in the ICU: You literally made my day worth it on the bad ones. You were so good at helping me calm down and think it through when my nurse and my instructor were no where to be found.

To my instructor: I am glad you made my clinicals difficult this semester. If you hadn't pushed me as far out of my comfort zone as you did, I would not be prepared for next semester.

To the nurse on the day from hell: You left me with both patients when my patient was taking Lactulose? Really? And to expect me to handle two non-compliant patients trying to escape from their beds? I'm glad the floor nurse yelled at you. I don't feel bad for saying something.

This is great, There is no reason why staff can work well and to give students the chance to do something. Believe me I know how hard it is with students and I only know how it works in the UK with students but I loved working with them and always used to tell them to let me know what they needed to learn and I would do my best to help.

I wish this thread weren't limited to things *students* would like to say to nursing staff - I have a few things I'd like to say to them myself! LOL!

I have decided from now on, when I have a great experience I am going to send a formal thank you.

Two the two psych nurses I worked with recently, you were awesome. I know that there are many good nurses around who are student friendly. At least, you remembered that you were a student once. Unlike some of those unhappy weak fibers in nursing I have come across in recent months, you seem to have it together. Thank you nurses. Gosh! I just love my male nurses, less drama and more teachings!
