Tablet advice & input

Hi everyone!

I'm sure this has been asked (over and over) but I could not find a current thread. My laptop is about to go to die and I was thinking I should get a tablet since we will be using Nursing Constellation Plus for clinicals.

Any advice? Anyone have an iPad, Surface, Samsung etc that they can give input about what they like or don't like?

My android is too small for me to read the information so that is not the best option for me.

Thank you in advance! :)

Hey guys - the price of Microsoft Surface RT tablets (32Gb) just dropped $150!!! They are now $349... optional keyboard is ~$100. Tablet is a Windows 8 platform and comes with MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & OneNote) plus cloud storage. Although I have other tablets, I couldn't resist when the price dropped. It's very streamlined, lightweight & so far, I haven't had any problems running any work-related apps. Keyboard is 'different' but very easy to use.

Go with iPad, they have the best selection of apps that can assist you (imo). I love the kindle for books, but their apps are lacking, big time. My son has a Galaxy, which is an awesome tablet, but I'm not sure all the apps you might want will be available on android-- someone else might be able to give you more info on that.

I have an Asus Tab RT that I LOVE as far as the system. It runs Windows 8 and comes preloaded with Microsoft word, PowerPoint, one note, and office. You also can switch it to desktop view and it is exactly like a laptop! It's Great! But, the apps aren't awesome/fun. I haven't done any hard searching but I have found like 4 medical apps!

I have to agree with HouTX. I just bought a surface and I am in love! What's even better is that Word, Office, Powerpoint and Notebook come preloaded at 2013 level. It runs fast, and Bestbuy has a bundle deal going on right now with a keyboard attachment. I'm hoping with as small as it is, it will really help me when I'm taking notes during class. Not sure about the apps you get on it though :p I am strictly keeping it for school and REFUSE to download anything like facebook or games since they can easily become a distraction!

Google the Windows RT. they won't even make them anymore because they were such a failure and you can not get apps for them. I have an asus vivo RT and I am preparing to return my second one because of manufacture defects :/

I love this tablet, I think it's just the RT that's the problem

I bought an iPad last semester and love it! It's lightweight and easy to use even with books and binders on your desk. My favorite app for school is GoodNotes. It's $4.99 for unlimited notebooks, and it's well worth it!! You can import any documents, including power points, and you can write and draw directly on them. This was perfect for taking notes in class. Plus the keyboard attachment is an easy alternative.

Check it out!! Hope this helps!

I also have a Galaxy note 10.1. I love the stylus, my hand writing on the screen looks exactly like my regular hand writing and there is no lag with the pen either. There are some really good you tube videos, one specifically of a girl taking notes in her Chem class and another of her writing on a power point. Watching those videos sold me on the note 10.1. I am even thinking of getting the note 2 as my phone now lol because I like the pen so much. I personally like Android better than I anything because I am techie and don't like to be locked down the way Apple likes the ipads to be. But that is all personal. I think we long as you can keep up with the teacher it does not matter. Pen and paper works for some where tablets or lap tops work for others. Don't fall into the "Apple has so Kent more apps" tap. That really isn't the case anymore. Every now and then there will be something missing but I have actually found Apple is missing an app I have or like more often. Plus I have also found that fees android apps sometimes cost on Apple.

Take it or leave it but i am excited to try my note in class. Already have used it for small things and I have already created my own templates in snote with a full size note book paper to write on and then I can change the background to white and print if I have to. :)
