Sweet 16

I am trying to study for finals. My house is a mess. I can't think of what to make for dinner. My car is making a weird clicking noise. I need a haircut. As I sit here and type my washing machine is about to explode because it is off balance...(just fixed that)...I can't recall anything I have learned in my pre-reqs so far (even though I got A's). I wonder how it will be when I start the RN program in Sept. I'm getting a little nervous. I have 3 kids and I'll need before and after care for my youngest, I have never had a child in daycare before. The high school bus comes earlier than the K-4 bus. My oldest wants a Sweet 16, tried $ offers, but she really wants the "dress". I'm not into parties, but she's a high honor student and is a good kid, I feel guilty. Every girl around here has one, WHY?????????????????? Sorry I needed to vent. Thanks

Sounds a lot like last week for me! I had to break down and buy a new washing machine for the same reason, it was so bad it scared my kids when it would really get going. Finals week is always so stressful, I spend the next couple of weeks trying to catch up on my housework.

Just came to offer {{{hugs}}}. Your thought processes sound a lot like mine, for slightly different reasons, but basically the same stuff  Hope things calm down for you!!!

Try to enjoy the party you'll be throwing! ;>)

what?!?! sweet 16 parties actually exist? Man I thought that was just in the movies, I got gipped on my 16th birthday then. There is a special kind of dress for the occasion? Explain this to me, I'm intrigued.

Me Too! :imbar

Try 8th grade promotion. It has gotten completely out of hand. I took my daughter, age 14, to Macy's a few weeks ago to look for a dress for promotion. Well, she headed right back to the high school PROM section!! I said "honey, these are prom dresses for girls in high school". She said "all my friends are getting dresses like this". Seems that some of the moms are spending $150 to $400 for a promotion dress. Some are going to bridal shops for goodness sake!!

Well, I said no. I called the school to find out the dress code. Nothing in writing but no prom dresses. Ha! Well, I said "guess what, you are gonna see prom dresses". Low cut, strapless, satin, lace, etc? What is the deal here? Can we not leave something for the kids to have in high school?

I thought Sweet 16 was in the movies too.

I have a friend who teaches in Sacramento. Her daughter is a Senior. At the Winter Ball there were girls dressed as Playboy Bunnies, with their parent's consent. What are these mothers thinking? Reminds me a "stage mom" syndrome.

Well, I'm of course the bad mom . . . .no prom dress. Just a nice pretty dress.

I feel for you my dear.

Girls here ALL have 'sweet 16's'. Most of them are at country clubs, they are like wedding receptions. It's crazy!!! Totally formal!!! I can't imagine the money spent for one evening. It's crazy!!!!!!!!! If I can find a room to rent, a cheap DJ and a couple of 6 foot hero's, OK. Kid's are so spoiled today. I thought sweet 16's were only in movies too. WOW was I wrong :rotfl: !!!!!!!!

Take a deep breath, You'll do fine on the test, the rest can wait till after finals. Sounds like you really need the Flylady method to be in place by September. Go to flylady.net and check it out. There is also a site that she recommends for a weekly menu mailer, sent out every week on Weds a whole grocery list and 6 recipes for the week, healthy, fairly easy and at least one crockpot meal a week. Your kids can even do a lot of them to help. The Flylady teaches you easy organizational skills and methods that become second nature and keep things from getting so crazy, babysteps! :p It sounds a bit hoky but it really does work and it may help you keep your sanity thru the rest of your schooling which is stressful enough by itself. Good luck in school! :balloons:

That is a great site, thank you very much !!!!!
