Deb, That's great to have all that work done ahead of time! I am an index card junky! I am going to try something different...as I read the chapters I will make up questions on general things on white cards and questions on things I know we will need on colored ones...may try to just do that instead of taking notes on chapters. (just take notes in class)

Did you know if you make a mistake on a post you can hit the edit button at the bottom of that post and make corrections? You can only do that on your own posts--:)

I am not so organized...just trying to catch up on all the things I let go while in school last year.

I hope everyone has time to check in here once in a while after school starts.

I admire you for doing school/job/ and kids at the same time, makes me feel lazy... take care of yourself, Susan

Susan,

I didn't know you could edit your own post, I have to try it next time I make a mistake.

I won't be doing the job thing, I think beginning in Sept. Don't think I can handle it with everything else. Don't wan't to stress myself out. Once my daughter begins preshcool and if I find someone to take her and pick her up on Monday, I will not be returning to work. I've been waiting for them to offer a buyout so I can apply for it, that is why I am holding on to my job. The rumor is they will offer one in Sept.

Thanks

I also came to your thread for a nostalgic trip down memory lane and felt my own anxiety (and excitement) rising for all of you.

The first day of nursing school for me, we were told in advance to meet at the Student Union, not the usual lecture hall. I honestly thought that we would be issued "Hi, my name is..." nametags and spend the time meeting and mingling with fellow students and instructors over coffee and doughnuts. What a rude awakening when the first instructor began lecturing and we furiously took notes for the next 2 hours and sat through lectures the rest of the day with only a break for lunch. :imbar Live and learn, huh?

I just wanted to wish you all the best in the coming school year!

Hi!

I start back August 26th. Until then, I am working my butt off at work trying to get some money ahead to pay bills with before I cut back down...

And studying for my boards...

and cleaning house ...

and trying to keep kids happy till they start back August 14th...

and having a ball!!!.....

Can't wait for school to start back up! I love it!

I start Monday :(. I am kind of excited though... all the nervousness of first year is over.... I remember seeing the second year students last year and thinking that they looked like heros of war... that is until classes started, then they looked much worse than we did...HA!

Anyway, I have been working in some of my NCLEX books to review some things that we had last year... other than that I am savoring every sane moment i have left with my family.

and sitting on the couch without being covered with books and papers and flash cards.... That is so nice.

Julie, It is so good to hear from someone that just finished and can still say they love it....When someone that went to school 20 years ago says they loved it....well...I worry they just forgot the bad stuff...I am glad to know it can be enjoyable! Thanks

Okay, I couldn't help but to peak, too! I graduated in May so I can still feel your pain. I just wanted to give ya'll some encouragement from the other side. Right up until a month before I graduated, I questioned whether I had chosen the right profession & was it worth the h*!! a couple of the instructors put us through. The answer is definitely YES! It is so different from being in school, but the "stuff" your learning is so important. So, read assignments BEFORE lectures (as painful as it may be), rewrite your notes as soon after class as possible, be selfish and ritualistic with your study time, but don't forget to give yourself breaks. They can be just as important as the studying itself. Yes, flash cards are great for that have to memorize information! Eat protien for breakfast on test days and stay away from those who are having anxiety attacks as they are CONTAGIOUS!

Lots of love to you all & May peace be with you!

I am buying school supplies...notebooks, etc. Yeah it does feel like I'm 15, not 44. Subscribing to tons of nursing journals, going to all the nursing sites and basically trying to absorb all the nursing I can.

I am interested in the nursing journals where did you find them?
