So Upset! Just need support

Nursing Students General Students

Hello,

I am a prenursing student taking pre-reqs. I had 18 credits and a FT job...so maybe that is the reason why I failed AP.

Well,....I got a B in AP Lab, I got A's in everything else...and a D in AP. I am so upset.....I wont be able to apply for nursing school to start in January. Instead, it will have to be September of 08. I just feel so bad...like a total failure, and miserable...

I will have to re-take AP, just the class, not the Lab.

Feels like I am the only person in this world who failed AP.....

My husband was very supportive, he pointed out that I did great in all other classes. I can take just the AP class and concentrate on it. I can volunteer at the hospital before I apply in 08.

I am just sad....right now....

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I hope things get better for you! :icon_hug:

Thank you :)

I just felt like I have no time, like I am in a time crunch...if I dont do it now it will never happen kind of a thing...

I think this will pass....:)

It's going to get better - it just seems really bad right now. :)

If I only take AP next semester.....will it be enough to constitute a GPA? Since I am going to apply for the Fall 08....will they look only at my GPA from Spring 08 (last semseter of me taking classes) or will they also look at my Fall 07 GPA?

I am confused, can anyone explain? Thanks!

I don;t know - you might be better off calling the college and asking.

I failed History a few semesters ago and had to retake it. After I passed the 2nd time I had to go to my community college Admissions office and submit this petition thing that asks to replace my F with the new B I received.

Check with your school and see if you can replace the D with the new grade you aquire. Hope this helps =]

Hang in there!

Sorry you're all bummed about this, hang in there!

First of all, you're not the first person to fail AP. I don't want to sound harsh, but taking 18 credit hours while working FT is way too much. That's more than 2 full time jobs. Taking 18 hours alone is a FT job. The fact that you got A's in everything else and a B in AP lab is great, it means you're taking it seriously and doing really well. But you can only do so much. There are only so many hours in a week ..... and between going to work at a FT job, going to all your classes, and studying ..... those hours pile up and you run out of time.

Try not to be so hard on yourself. I hope you feel better!

oh hun even thought you didnt pass the lecture part pf ap you did so well in everything else on top of having a full time job! pat yourself on the back for doing such a great job! ap is not an easy class without the added pressure so i think you did something great already. why dont you ask your nursing dept director at the college for a meeting? explaine your situation and ask if you can take the ap lecture during the first semester? or find out if you can do something else to start classes as planned. if you are going to take nursing classes full time may i suggest not working at all. the work load for nursing is about three times the ap work load and maybe more if you want to do really well. talk to someone at your school to see what you can do. just because they have a rule dosent mean its set in stone. good luck hun!

Thank you :)

I think everyone feels like that, your 10 years ahead of me thogh, I am 39 and will be starting nursing program in the spring, it has taken me 4 years to get to this point, and I always feel like there isn't enough time either, but there is, time goes by regardless, if your taking on too much slow down and find your pace! Good luck.

ever school differs you will have to talk to administration there and see what the rules are. My school you can only take a class over with a D or an F and then they give you the average of the two classes, and we would have to take over AP lab and lecture they are not seperate here they are averaged together for one grade. Make sure you find out all the rules before investing into it, you want to make the best choices for you, so make an appointment and go talk to someone to get all your answers.
