SNA?

I'm not a "club" person, don't care for useless meetings, so I can't really see the benefits to paying for membership in the Student Nurses Association. Any members/non-members care to share the benefits? (Asking as an older student with a family, I can see more benefits for the younger student interested in socializing and making friends)

I'm thinking it would look good on a resume? If this is the case, why not just join toward the end of your last year?

our SNA doesn't charge dues, we do fundraisers...

Im an older student as well with kids. I find it beneficial. Our meetings are held between classes and for the most part we do a lot of volunteering activities. We also go to state conventions(Ill go for the first time this September). It also looks good on your resume and it shows you are involved.

Your school SNA should be free. The NSNA costs, but I find it to be beneficial. You get some discounts for things! Our local SNA is fun! We do a lot of things around the community!

I like being part of the SNA because I can get to know other students who are further in our nursing program. It's been helpful to hear what they have to say about upcoming classes and such. I also enjoy being around people (of all ages) who can understand the difficulties and demands of nursing school. It's great to have some extra support. Hope that helps a little.

I don't do a lot through our SNA, but my membership did allow me to go to the midyear nursing convention for almost nothing at all. It covered our hotel and the registration fees, and we had a great time. So it's worth it to me for that reason alone.
