Skills by distance Ed

  1. I am taking my LPN course by distance ed. I did really well on my Anatomy (got an A) but when it comes to the skills, I don't know where to start. I totally understand them, I have watched the video, but when I practise, how do I really know that I am doing it right? The school has workshops, but I get through the courses faster than workshops come up. And who do I practise on? My husband will let me but he works so much that I hardly see him. We are supposed to use adults, but I am too scared to ask my friends if I can stick my fingers in their mouths or palpate their abdomens! My kids giggle to much to practise on them anyway.
Also, I know once I get used to it, it won't be such a big deal, but for now, how do I remember not to forget anything when doing an assessment? The instructors suggest cue cards to carry in our pockets during clinicals, but what exactly should I put on these cue cards, "open mouth, insert thermometer?" Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
