I am just starting out and was wondering what is the average cost for a nursing program. I need to know to see how many nights my family has to eat Hamburger Helper

Well, I'm currently in my third year of nursing school, but I don't have a family. Although, I see the women who do and really admire their efforts and work. I would say that your family probably better get used to the Hamburger Helper!! Not only because of the cost, but you are going to need every bit of time to study. The school I go to is a private college and costs $275.00 a credit hour, books are additional costs, along with lab fees, uniforms, and library dues. It is all possible, so don't get discouraged by the cost. If it is meant to be it will all work out, and I can tell you that first hand! Good luck and never give up!

I recently graduated from a California state university. The cost was $969.00 per semester if you took more than 6 units. Of course this does not include books and materials and this was a resident rate. Good luck.

I graduate from a 2 year ASN program in April of 2000 and with room, board, tuition, fees it has costed me about $13,000 a year. The per credit rate is $257 plus fees. I have spent about $100 on uniforms and about $1500 if not a little more on books. I have some financial aid and such so that helps to. Definitely apply for loans and grants and all that with the FAFSA it really helps! Best of luck!KIM
