OK had a question about Doctors.... As students have you had any bad run- ins with Doctors? Would you share your stories and how you handled the situation?

Thanks

I haven't yet had to deal with any docs personally yet (2nd semester), but I can just add that the most important aspect of dealing with anyone is communication skills -- be clear, be honest, and be thorough.

I worked in IT for many years and one of the biggest problems many co-workers seemed to have were those skills. My business users always commented that they appreciated my letting them know exactly what was happening -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. This was often mentioned to my managers; there were very few misunderstandings about delivery dates, etc. They might not have always LIKED what I was telling them, but they weren't left wondering what was going on or why something was delayed or if (surprise!) we were ready early and needed their assistance with testing, etc.

I think having a response ready in case a situation gets out of hand is great advice. I also think, as our instructors have mentioned, that once you start working with the same doctors over and over, you'll get a feel for how to "play" with them.

In addition, it'd be good now to get over the feeling that they are some kind of supreme beings and understand that they are people too. You have limits with your friends and family as to how much abuse you'll take; it shouldn't be any different in your workplace.

I can really respect that !!!

Thanks
