Pre-nursing experience?

  1. Hey everybody!
I am looking to apply to an accelerated nursing BSN program and I was wondering what elements they look at when you apply most strongly. Obviously there is GPA, science courses and pre-reqs (grades), but what else is critical to landing a spot in the class? I thought about pre-nursing experience, perhaps just volunteering in the ER, shadowing a nurse, or doing plebmotomy or CNA. Are these things nursing schools look at?

I don't know if they help you get in, but I wish I had taken a CNA course or something like that. I have the hardest time with the little stuff.

Phlebotomy, EMT certification, and hospital volunteer work are all common ways that students gain experience while preparing for nursing school. Good luck!
