Please, just pat me on the head...

  1. I hope you all don't mind a venting post...I think I need a little encouragement.

I'm in the 6th of 6 months of condensed nursing courses. I'm in an accelerated program in which we completed Year 1 and 2 nursing courses in 6 months (Jan to Jun of this year). It's actually not as bad as it sounds...but, we are the first group of students to go through this program. Oh my...give me ibuprofen please, it has been such a headache. The administrators of the program are a perfect demonstration of hierarchy, politics and corporate miscommunication. I have dreamed of dropping out of the program and becoming a plumber (really, constipation and clogged toilets: what's the difference?). But, I suppose the grass is always greener...

The nursing courses themselves are fine and I usually can find something good about every instructor...and I've had some positive feedback from them as well. I just have to keep reminding myself that nursing school is not forever and is definitely not the real world.

Anyways, can someone just pat me on the head and send me on my way?

Consider your head patted and encouragement sent your way to finish this up. Not long now.

Hush! nursing college can be a nightmare but you just have to suck it up and pray for a brighter day. My program is fairly new too and there are things that are miscommunicated but I just need to be done and be on my way. I had an instructor last term who really tried to **** me off but I just ignored her because I am older and more mature than her. She is very petty. Thank God I will not see that face ever again because she only teaches a specific course.

    Keep on truckin'. . .

All of this pain will lead to rewards in the near future.

I'm a third semester student, (second career, non-trad adult), and I've wanted to quit 1,000 times and then some. The classes aren't difficult, clinicals are just fine and I'm happy with the work so much that I work as a CNA...

but school? The administrators and the nonsense that comes along with the program?

    BLEH!

Yes - nursing school is *school*. Not work. Not autonomy. Not tangible gains. Take a breath, forget school for an afternoon and reward yourself with something fun! You just have to get through these few semesters and then you'll be out on your own.

    Best,

    Southern
