Full or Part time student?

Do you work and go to school?

Age?

Single or Married?

Children (if yes ages?)

Other degrees?

Ideal nursing position?

Why you chose nursing?

And anything else you want to share...

TIA

Here's me...

Full time wife & mom part time student (not enough time in a day but I try)

37 years old

Married to a great guy

4 boys (6,5,4,2)

Got my BS in 1987

I think I would like to work in our new Women's and Babies Hospital or Geriatrics...

I should have done this in college the first time but my dad (an MD) talked me out of it and now is my biggest supporter (go figure:rolleyes: )

I am in a 2 year part time evening program which is great but it may say it is a "part time" program but we have to put in "full time" work :)

>>do you work and go to school?

yes, i work full-time as an engineering student and am just taking pre-reqs online. i was planning on getting a bsn, but will be applying to the adn program for fall of 2003 (since i'm impatient and they don't have any programs starting in january in my state... unless someone else knows about any in mississippi?)

age? 25

married

two boys: 4 years and 8 mos

no other degrees

ideal nursing position? no idea, maybe l&d/cnm, icu, er?

why you chose nursing? i'm absolutely fascinated by medicine and have always wanted a career in a healthcare field... i'm too old/poor to go to med school (which was my original goal/dream), so i'm pursuing nursing instead

and welcome! much success in your endeavors.

Hi I'm Heather, welcome! I'm a full time mom and part time student (though I've got homework fulltime!) I am finishing up my pre-req's HOPEFULLY this year. Applying for next fall in Feb. I have a BA in Sociology, bygum, it's coming in handy too! I also have a teaching credential and teaching secondary experience. I have 2 wonderful sweet kids, 7 and 10 boy and girl. I am 40 years old and loving this new decade of age. I have a honey of a husband, that I'm still training but love anyway :0

I think I want to go into NICU for the same reason that I became interested in nursing. I went through a painful yet beautiful experience of losing my baby to anencephaly. I had an angel of a nurse who helped me walk through it. I would be privileged to help someone else walk through. I mean, what an amazing life to come home feeling you might have helped someone with pain beit emotional/physical etc. How meaningful.

I also chose it because I see it being a great "family" job, and the great diversity within the job itself. (I get ansy to change jobs about every 3-5 years. Perfect job! Good luck to all of us! To glorify God! Heather
