People who own a Palm TX, I need your help!

Again, I posted this question in the PDA forum but since that forum is so slow it never got any responses...

I just got my Palm TX and I followed the directions: plug the sync cable into the TX, then into the computer, then I plugged the power adapter into the wall and then plugged it into my TX. Okay, well nothing really happened... Is this normal? I didn't get a "new hardware found" message from my computer, or anything like that. Although I think I may have bumped a button on my TX because it said "charge battery", so I just left it like that and kept it charging without using it. So is that what I was supposed to do? And I thought the TX was supposed to sync with my computer... Nothing happened, or is this supposed to happen later on after I start tinkering with it?

One more question... When I plug my sync cable into the TX it doesn't make a firm connection. I can toggle it up and down a little bit. I think that's how it was made but I want to make sure mines not messed up. The part that's connected to the TX is still connected, but I can still move it around vertically (not horizontally). So is this normal?

To anyone who helps me out I appreciate it a lot!! Thanks!!!

my cable connects to my TX with some jiggle room

you should have received a Palm program CD with which you install the Palm program first, then when you cable in, you should be able to sync

And yes you are supposed to charge your Palm before using it. It should tell you how long in the instruction booklet.

One more question.. To download programs for your PDA you first have to download them onto your computer, then onto your PDA right? So I buy a program, download it onto my laptop, then put it onto my Palm?

Do I put programs onto my TX using the Palm Quick Install icon that's on my computer's desktop now?

If you all answer these questions that should help me out a lot, then all I have to worry about is figuring out what all to do with this thing.. ;)

Thanks a lot!!!

Exactly right. Just make sure that you print out a copy of your receipt for the programs. If you need to redownload them later it should be no hassle.

I can't remember that part 100%. It's been a while since I've done it. I think the stuff I bought actually came with a link that i double clicked after I installed it on my computer. It started itself and I entered in my code to verify that I had bought it. I found this website from Palm that explains a few methods.

I just bought my TX this weekend. Mine came with a CD Rom that I had to install on my computer that helped my TX sync up. I have found downloading to be very easy! I just download it on my computer and then press the sync button on the cord and that is it!

I also lucked out and got a 2 GB card from Circuit City (after rebate) for $15!

Anyways, hope you are getting it all figured out.
