we can buy a kit with all the necessary items we need (i.e. blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, sissors, measuring tape, etc). since i have most of what is required, i am buying the other few items without purchasing the nursing kit.
and you?

We also required to purchase watches & scissors. We were also required to pay 60$ for a skill lab kit. It contains syringes, gloves, IVs & all sort of goodies for our skill checks. We are not allowed to open them until the day we are being checked off on the skill.

penlight, bandage scissors, watch, small notebook and calculator. All of these are mandatory for clinical. You don't have them you get sent home

This is something that I have never been requested to buy but I have had for a long time and I find it indispensable- a leatherman or gerber. It is such a great tool for everything. Also I have a Palm Pilot. I have two drug books on them and a drug calculator that does both standard and metric conversions.

A Leatherman is like a Swiss Army knife, but with lots more cool stuff on it! Just have to be careful going through security checkpoints with it these days....

i had my sissors(for treatments) in my pocket when i went to purchase my tag for my car, earlier this year, they did let me in until i removed them. 9/11 brought the extra security from everywhere and rightfully so, hummm. :)
