I think it would be great, if our text book can be in a binder form that way, we can take the pages out and carry it along with us as needed.

Do a search for "debinding textbooks" for how to do this...
WAW great idea! I never thought about that.

I have heard that Kinko's can do this, but I have never tried having them do a book of mine.

there are a couple of posts on this. i think one of them said they had to tear off the covers themselves because the place they took the book to didn't want to be responsible for damaging the book! Mine comes in separate modules so it's really convenient.

I have a friend that did this 1st year to her med-surg book and said it was not worth the money to do it because the pages just tear out of the binder because they are sooo thin and she ended up losing most of the pages. She did however go to our resource center and got the book on CD because she has a learning issue.

Now thats a damned clever idea!!! I wish someone had told me about it back in the day.
I'm going to share this with my student friends!

I actually did this for my Med-Surg book and got the idea from a former post.
I loved it.......my book actually comes in vol I and II for more money. So I looked at where book one ended and two started from another student's. I took my "huge" heavy book to kinko's and instructed them to chop it in half. Yes they did have to remove the hard covers but they did a great job! I actually wanted it three holed punched, the salesperson said it would be cheaper and better to spiral bound it. Now I have 2 small and lighter books. The whole thing cost $11.
No regrets and my back and shoulders thank me:lol2:

i just did that w/ one of my modules, but just had it spiral bound. what a great idea to split a gigantic (we have many!) book into smaller ones, love that idea!
