Nursing Shoes

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has tried Nurse Mates shoes and if they are comfortable? We are required to have white leather shoes and I thought about ordering them. Also are they true to size? Any other suggestions would be welcomed also! Thank you for your time!

I also bought the Timberland PRO Renova and I love them! I wore them a few times just to get a feel for them (don't start until August) and they feel very comfy! I found the best prices on Amazon and most offered free shipping and even free shipping if you need to return/exchange them.

I found this post late but thought I'd post anyway....

Personally my favorite shoe for working 12hr shifts are the nurse mates dove. I have a wide foot so I get the 8.5 wide. If that is not available I order the 9 in the regular width. I have a heavy step and these are great. I do feel like they wear out fast and find I must replace them every 6 -9 months if I am working an average of 3-5 shifts a week. (Working my three 12hr shifts plus my volunteer hours, clinicals, and any extra shift I can squeeze in.) Many nurses I work with swear by Danskos which are way out of my price range.

Get a pair of compression socks!

I just ordered a pair of NurseMates "Nelly", they were very comfortable when I tried them on -- they are a clog style like the Danskos but they cost less and I am yet to see how they will hold up after a full days wear.

I second the notion for compression hose...I bought Jobst brand, 20-30 mmHg. Waiting for those to arrive, too -- I am not diggin the spider veins at age 24

We're not allowed to wear clogs (preceptor decided she doesn't like them) so I had to find a shoe that is sneaker style with a closed top. I just bought Sketchers slip ons Amazon.com: Skechers Women's Premium-Premix Slip-On Sneaker, White, 10 M: Shoes

They seem to have very very high marks, anyone else use these and like them?

I have a pair of danskos - and I roll my ankle CONSTANTLY whenever I wear them. I think they're not a great option for people with high arches, or at least that's what I've read? People seem to love them or hate them.

I've also read the trick is to have two pairs of shoes and switch halfway through your shift.

What a great thread! Thank you everyone for your input. :inlove: I am only applying into nursing program this upcoming Fall, but it feels great to have ideas in the back of my mind. I will likely be getting the Timberland PRO Renova, or possibly the Nurse Mates.

I bought the Dansko that look like tennis shoes and I love them! They are so comfortable!

To anyone who bought the Timberland Pro Renova Professional - Do you feel like they are a half-size too small? I wear a size 5 and see that their smallest size is 5.5, so I ordered that... but not sure if it will fit. I hope they do!!! Any feedback on size?

I purchased a pair of Nurse Mates several years ago and ended up wasting my money. I felt that the shoe sizes ran somewhat small and were never quite comfortable to me.

Nurse Mates used to be made in the USA, but now they are made in China. Perhaps this might be the reason that these shoes are made small and narrow.

If you have shoes you already like, I would stick with those. I have always worn Nike Shox and love them, so that's what I stayed with. I had to custom order mine though which was very pricey

Nurse Mates shoes are very comfortable. I have a very high instep and was happier in a half size longer but my usual width for 12 hour shifts. They felt very soft.

I just got a pair of the Nurse Mates "dove", and like a couple people already mentioned, they are true to size.. I haven't worn them a full day yet, but I've heard a lot of good things about them. I had to go to a uniform store to find them.. Good luck on your shoe hunt everyone:).
