When you care for a patient in an intense situation it calls on all your skills and resources at once--sometimes leaving you feeling drained. What do you do for yourself and/or other nurses to help ease the tension and process the experience? I've heard of code cookies, sharing a bowl of popcorn, or giving each other a neck massage. Yet I know there are others.
I'm curious to learn about other unofficial rituals of nurses helping nurses for research on an article exploring this topic for a nursing publication. I thank you for any examples you may share.
