Anyone else attending the NSNA Conference in Nashville at the end of March, beginning of April?

Our NSNA at our school is considering paying for part or all of our trip there so I'm really looking forward to experiencing a conference. I'm the Treasurer at our school and know we have enough money in our account to help out with the expenses (it's actually not too bad...$600 for the entire thing, including registration and airfare).

I would like to hear from those who may have attended one in the past and read about their experiences so I know what to expect! :D

I'll be there. I'm hopeful that at least 2 of my classmates will also show up. You'll know me by my slick weasely coat, lol.

Can't vouch for any previous conferences since I didn't go - but two classmates went to New Orleans and enjoyed it.

I will be there...this will be my fourth and final conference...at least as a student. We usually take about 20 people (we do fund raiser to pay for it all). I have had great experiences at all the conferences. Make sure to visit the exhibition hall as there are tons of job oppertunites, books with discounts, prize drawings and free goodies! Also kinda plan out which seminars you are going to go to before you get there....it makes things a lot easier and gives you a time line for site seeing and such. oh and thre is an area where schools sell stuff like t-shirts...which is always cool (we are one of the schools that sale tons of shirts). Thats about all i can think of now....other than Have fun! It should be great!

Ps. i will be going to our california state conference. I think every state has one.

GO! GO! GO!

Get all the goodies you can from exhibitors. Learn about differnt programs and have fun.

My attendence at NSNA 1982 in Miniappolis fulled my passion for nursing and pushed me in the direction of activism.

I attened NSA again in 2002 when in Philadelphia representing PSNA and had a blast again, especially passing out Allnurses pens!

I went to New Orleans. The conference was GREAT! Me and my best friend went and due to flight times, we didn't get to stay for all of the seminars we would have liked to have seen. But overall, it was wonderful.

I also went to my state convention last year, and had a WONDERFUL time. It was absolutely great.

I'd advise anyone who gets a chance to go to take advantage of it. All the goodies are great, job opps are great, and the site-seeing and meeting others is great.

FYI, to save yourself a TON of writing, I'd advise you to take ADDRESS LABELS with your name, addr, and tel. # printed on them. Also take business cards and a few resumes. Trust me, if you want to win goodies, you have to fill out forms for them, and your hands get tired!

In New Orleans, I won a palm pilot from one place and an executive notebook from another place. YAY ME! And my best friend made out good at the casino (he he).

Thank you for the valuable tips! I would not have thought of the address labels, so I truly truly appreciate that one. You're awesome, thanks!

on the address labels be sure to add your graduation date....they like to know that information too!

Allll Riiiiight!!!! This thread is totally rockin'. Keep 'em coming, people! :D Thanks much!

One of the nurses I work with in the ICU told me about the address thing. She said they give away a TON of stuff and to make sure I bring pre-printed address labels to save my hand a lot of writing.

I'm getting really excited thinking about the whole thing. I will also be registered for the NCLEX review seminar they have there(even though I have another year to complete before attempting it). They will be reviewing the new format of the exam so that should be interesting. I tested myself with a few questions out of a book in the bookstore and I did better on the picture questions than I did on the multiple choice.

I also just found out that the hospital I work for has reserved the Presidential Suite at the hotel we will be staying in and has plans to take anyone from our area out to dinner to "woo" us for employement later on. Doesn't matter that I'm already an employee...teehee.

Another piece of advice she gave me.....for anyone who likes to drink and have a good time (I'm too old for that anymore). Get in good with some of the reps there and they will end up taking you out at night and buying you drinks.

Never mind, we ended up filling our room with folks from our program after all... thanks anyway! :p

Well time is flying... I have my address labels ready... anyone else coming? How will we say hi to each other if we don't know who's who!?! I *know* there's gotta be more people here that are going... pop in and say hi, people!!! :)

How will we say hi to each other if we don't know who's who!?!

Maybe a secret handshake?? :rotfl:

Ok, OK, just trying to be funny. Seriously though, several years ago I went to an industry conference and there were nametags that said "on AOL I'm _______" and you filled in your AOL screen name. Maybe someone could do something like that - print a bunch of labels on the computer and leave them on tables or something? Just a thought ...

I'm not going to the conference - those of you who are - enjoy!
