I know this has been done many times.. But lately I have been seeing alot of new names on the board... So I figured I could start another introduction of ourselves thread...

Feel free to share anything you want us to know..... What semester you are in? or when you hope to start??? married/single?? kids?? Pets?? Fears?? what area you want to work in??? age??? Anything you feel like sharing...

I will start.. :D

I am 25 (be 26 on the 20th of this month).... I am married, 2yrs on July 15th... No kids.. Just 4 rotten animals... :)

I just completed my first semester this past May.... It was NOT as hard as all the horror stories, but it did take ALOT of studying.. I am in a ADN program.. My hopes when I finish is to work with Children... There is a Childrens Hospital 2 1/2hrs from me and I would LOVE to work there... I am also working at a hospital as a PCA part time.. I plan on working 1 day or 2 a week during the 2nd semester... But we will see how that goes.... If you read the post YIPPEE!! you will see that I just recently got to put in a Foley at work, and we haven't even learned that in school yet... I was really excited.. :roll

I start back on August 19th and if we started back tomorrow, I would be MORE than ready...

Hi there! I'm Marci, I'm 36 and getting ready to start my 2nd year of pre-reqs for the ADN program. I'm married with 2 kids and a step-daughter. I love biology but HATE:( math!! Next semester is Chem and I hope to survive the math part!

I quit my job last year as a corporate paralegal. I wanted to spend some time with my baby :kiss and pursue a degree in teaching. After I started school I changed my mind and decided on nursing. Nursing hasn't been my lifelong dream, it was more like a "lightbulb moment". Once I thought about it, it was clear that nursing and my personality, character, and aptitude were a perfect fit! Now I can't wait to start the program!!!!

Marci

Marci - It's funny because I considered going back to school to be a Paralegal, but I kept leaning toward the nursing field, plus I have a friend who works as a legal secretary and kept telling me I would be bored. I know I won't be bored doing nursing, that's for sure. So I am beginning my nursing courses next month. I'm so excited, but scared also.

good luck in your courses and your pursuit in nursing.

Hey. I'm 38. Just decided to go back to school a couple of years ago. I've almost finished my pre-req's for the nursing clinicals. (I've just got a clinical math course and Micro to complete in the fall.) Talked to someone who's in the know the other day and I should definitely be in the program as of January 2003. (My NLN scores were great...99...and my gpa is a 4.0 as of now.)

Personally, I'm scared, nervous, and hope I'll be able to make it through the program. It's an ADN program, BTW. I hope I can cut it, I hope my kids can do without me while I cut it, and I hope my husband can manage to live with me when I start panicking (sp?).

It all remains to be seen,

Cindy

Thanks Debi! I agree with your friend- I became bored as a Paralegal. There was too much document handling and not enough challenge. The only real challenge was trying to get my inbox cleared out! Good luck to you, I think that we'll both love nursing!

I've been visiting this site for quite some time and finally decided to register. I am in my final semester of nursing school -ADN program. It's nice to meet people in the same boat. :chuckle

Nursing school is challenging; it's nice to have a place to come chill out.;)

Hi,

I'm 28, married with a 3 year old... I'll start my pre-q's in the fall...

Thought about doing the LPN thing first but then got hooked onto being an RN because it was better for me (as I had so many college credits from being undecided for so long..lol)

Anyway I hope nursing will keep me challenged... Nice to meet everyone can't wait for the semester to start!!!

My name is Jennifer and I am 24 years old. I live in Indiana with my husband of two years, my wonderful dog , and spoled cat. I am starting back to school this fall after being out for about 2 1/2 years. I will be taking pre-reqs this semester then I don't know what I will do until I can get into the School of Nursing probably next year hopefully. I am scared that I won't make it into the program. I have always loved the medical field. My Dad is a paramedic and my step-mom works in the ER. I have grown up around this my whole life and I can't wait to be a part of it. I am hopeing to meet and become friends with a lot of you.

Jennifer:)

Hi everyone, My name is Tammy, I am 35 years old, Married to a wonderful supportive husband ( I thing the Spouses of nursing students are special people for putting up with everything involved in nursing school ) I have a 11 year old daughter Heather, who has Type 1 diabetes. ( I know I am biased: but I think She is a very special kid to put up with everything involved in her life)

I was always interesed in Nursing, but when I graduated high school I went to work in Banking and Finance. I always planned on going back to school, but I got comfortable in the job I was in and spent 15 years there. When Heather was diagnosed with Diabetes, That was the perfect opportunity for me to full fill my lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, while educating myself of how to better handle my daughters medical condition. I am in my 3rd semester of an ADN program, 3 down, and 2 to go,

When I started, I had every intention on becoming a Diabetes Educator, but now I am torn. This semester we are working our labor and delivery rotation, and I love it. So I guess I will work labor and delivery when I graduate while I take classes to get my BSN which is required for Diabetes Educator. That gives me at least a couple of years to decide what I want to be when I Finish.
