3. I used to have problems with that all the time!!

> is greater

< is lesser
4. Just remember the less than sign looks like an "L"....<
Hope this helps!!!
5. Ok...I learned a really dumb method of remembering this. LOL
Picture the < as a mouth. The mouth always wants to eat the bigger number. So >3 means that the number is greater than 3, and <3 means that the number is less than 3.
6. Never say it's dumb!! That's how I remember it too... I remember actually drawing teeth on them when I was little... My teacher always wondered why I was so slow at math......
7. Hehe...well as long as we're sharing memory tricks...here's mine on the greater/lesser than symbols:

When I was growing up, there was no GREATER desire for little girls, than to have breasts or " > "

Worked for me!!
8. i learned that if the point was facing left "<" then less than. I too learned the bigger boobs one! I always wanted more " >" he he he...
9. I learned that less than looks like an "L" . . . <

That seemed the easiest for me.
10. I found if i remember that the side that has the most distance between the lines, (greater distance) will be the biggest number.

Hence,, a temp >101 (greater thAN 101)
Patient has maintained a temp < 100.0 (less than 100)
good luck,,
11. Thanks so much everyone. I will remember it !

That's how I learned it too. We had the big alligator mouth eating the bigger number. It's one of those things that I always remember now.
13. I do what Mishi does---you can make the < (Less than) sign with your Left thumb & index finger.
