    Probably depends on the unit and the patient.

    I'm in NICU, and we run TKOs at 1 cc/hr.

    Theoretically, it's the slowest rate you can titrate the IV to in order to keep the IV running, yet patent. Most facilities have a policy that will advise nurses what the KVO rate is for gravity drips (IV's that are not on IV pumps) or when a doctor orders "IV to KVO" should be. In facilities that I have worked the KVO rate was anywhere from 30 to 50cc/hour. With the IV pumps in use today, the pumps default to a KVO rate of 1cc/hour.
